Auberge Du Pays De Retz

We stopped to have a lunch break and believe me we were not disappointed the choice of dishes is great and the ambiance is really relaxing. Service was perfect and we enjoyed the freshness of the food.The wine per glass is a bit shy......meaning not so generous in volume but it you drive after we cannot blame them

We stayed in the nearby Hotel Nuit de Retz. A very short walk to the Restaurant Auberge. Quite a large room but lacking just a little in character. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I had the whole crab starter (see photo) which was very well presented and was fresh and flavoursome. The restaurant did not supply the cutlery pick normally supplied with crab or lobster, which was not such a good decision, and I was left only with the cracker and a knife to do the business. My partner had a foie gras de canard which was good. For mains, I had a ribs dish which was tasty. My partner had a brochette which was pleasant too.My partner's desert was very large (if a little over sweet).The service seemed to drop off a little when it came to trying to get the bill. The staff seemed distracted by what was going on in the adjoining bar. However, all in all not a bad experience, and better than we expected. Not unreasonable value.
