We came upon this restaurant by chance, whilst staying in Kings Cross. We'd looked at a few other restaurants but they were all rather pricey. So Cafe Boheme was a pleasant surprise. We were seated out side and attended to by a delightful waiter. He was so pleasant and chatty, he really made our time there enjoyable. Our meals were very tasty and well presented. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned the next morning for breakfast, put the diet aside and both had the Croque Madame. Since visiting this cafe I've read a couple of reviews that bagged out their Croque Madame but we really enjoyed it. I've eaten it in Paris and this was comparable.
We too visited this new restaurant after reading a review. We were not disappointed. We were told they do not take bookings but had no trouble getting a table for four on Saturday evening. We were seated in the leafy courtyard at small round candlelit tables which made for a delightful Parisian atmosphere. We all enjoyed our entrees and mains, in particular my husband's ocean trout gravlax was a winner as was my grilled baramundi with artichokes and black olive tapenade. For dessert we chose creme brulees to share - unfortunately these were quite small and we thought lacked the usual rich flavour and consistency. Coffee was excellent. The service was exceptional and we look forward to returning for lunch soon.
Last week, after reading a revue of this establishment, we visited for the first time. We were offered the worst seat, just inside the front gate, but then moved to a better seat. Before even sitting we were offered suggestions for the 'fish' dinner. The beer suggested, a German beer, turned out to be 'German style' brewed at Nelson Bay!! Not German beer. We wanted a quiet drink prior to dinner but were asked on three occasions to order and only after we ordered a bottle of wine were we left in peace. The entrée and main were delightful but the sweet, crème brulee, left much to be desired. We will return to this restaurant again and hopefully the staff will be better trained in the needs of their clients.
I had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of this amazing hidden gem of a cafe, and I consider myself very lucky.
