The rooms are nice and the location is great in old town. The entrance can be a little hard to miss at night, it's the big wooden doors. There are other business in the ground floor as well. Also I want to point out how helpful the receptionists are.
The Palac U Kocku is right at the turn to go to the Charles Bridge. There is not a more central location than that. The staff was friendly and tried to help if you did not speak Czech. They gave a 10% discount at the hotel restaurant, but at those prices who could tell? The room was clean and comfortable for two people. It included a modern bathroom which was nice. Breakfast was continental and all you care to eat. It is one of the nicer hotels that I had stayed at in Prague. I would go again, next time I am in Prague. My only thought on my second stay, please make sure the air conditioning works if it is advertised.
We had a wonderful 5 night stay in one of the family rooms at Palac U Kocku. Here are some things that you should consider: Spacious rooms that are very warm during the night We found our room nicely cleaned There 's always hot water The location couldn 't be any better, everything around you is in walking distance We chose to stay in what we thought was a hotel for a more personalised stay, since we paid around 100 euros per night. Well... don 't expect much from the reception. It 's more of a here 's your keys thing than anything else. Don 't get me wrong, they 're not rude or anything. It 's just that they don 't seem to care much. On our first morning there, Ι greeted both receptionists and no one answered which really leaves a bad taste in your mouth when that 's how your trip begins. As someone who has worked in tourism, I really appreciate a smile and a 'good morning ' which you will definitely not get. I must say though, if you are looking for a highly discreet reception, don 't go looking elsewhere. You will generally see a bunch of different people in the reception but none of them really makes an effort to welcome you or give you any tips about your stay. I should say, the whole thing just looks mostly disorganized. Inside the rooms, they mention that cleaning service is free for a stay longer than 4 nights but we didn 't have our rooms cleaned. I don 't know if we were supposed to ask, but still no one told us anything at the reception so go figure..., but the rooms were clean enough upon our arrival so no issues with that. Concerning the reviews saying that the rooms were not quiet, we were on the second floor and really had no issue with that. So generally, not the mecka of hospitality but definitely a comfortable and nice room at the best location in Prague.
Rooms were very small, especially the bathroom, which featured a shower that was completely unusable for a 6'1 (185 cm) person with long arms. The air conditioners were dysfunctional and were difficult to adjust. The walls are thin and noise from the restaurant downstairs and nearby bars could be heard at all hours of the night, including on weekdays. Front desk service was terse and unhelpful. The cleaning service only showed up once during a two-night stay only to replace towels and not clean any of the rest of the room. On the plus side, the location was great, and most attractions in old town were within easy walking distance, and the rooms were clean when we arrived.
