Third time at KG Kitchenbar, and won’t be returning. The first time was excellent on every level. The second visit, on a Friday, it took 30 minutes from the time we sat down to get our drinks despite the fact that the restaurant was not busy. Our server that night made no apology Of her inattentiveness despite the fact that she spent long periods with other tables. The most recent visit (also a Friday) I requested a booth and was told one wasn’t available upon our arrival, despite the fact that one was open. When I inquired about the open booth I was told it was being reserved for “regulars.” This is the type of establishment that seems to value its regulars but until you get on that VIP list, good luck to you. We will not be returning since the restaurant has made it clear on two occasions that we aren’t valued by them. This may indicate to the owners why they aren’t busier on Fridays. It’s a shame because the food is great.
Low profile appearance from the street, but this is a great spot for lunch, brunch or dinner. Friendly service, nice bar area. Dining room is intimate and cozy. Great food. A menu that has something for everyone. Small plates go great with wine and beer selection in the bar area. Entrees just right whether you're looking for comfort food, or something new. Tried this place and have been back every week since. Busy some nights, but they take reservations. Or find a spot in the bar area, but don't miss it, well worth the wait.
My husband who always leaves 20-25% tips did not leave our waiter a tip. After having to get up to find the waiter at the bar watching TV, he asked are you our waiter or the bartender? My husband actually thought he was the bartender since he did not seem to care about serving. I wanted to leave then. The waiter Joseph F was obviously offended and service was all downhill from there. Our lunch orders were rudely set down on the table sideways. He never asked if we wanted a drink or dessert. But we finished lunch and my husband paid the bill. He did not, however, leave a tip. Consequently Joseph F ran out of the restaurant after us in a very threatening way and said I served you your fkin food and you did not leave a tip Don 't ever come back to this restaurant. We won 't, but it is too bad, we liked the brunch and the dinner menu, but we would never set foot in this place again, Bad Service can ruin a restaurant. And a bad surely waiter does not deserve a tip.
Thankfully, we made a reservation since we went on a Friday night. Service excellent, atmosphere busy but comfortable! My husband’s lamb burger was outstanding as was my daughter’s salmon. I got the chicken piccata which was good but too many capers. Would have liked more chicken.
