At first, the prices were a little much considering you're just ordering a burger with fries. However, the taro buns is definitely what makes it special and worth while. Overall, our meal was satisfying and pretty solid. However, the creativity of incorporating the taro and the convenience of being open and available justifies the prices. Thanks for saving us from killing each other from hanger Tony's!
Best fish tacos in our weeklong trip to Hawaii. And frankly, best fish tacos I've had period.
We stopped here on our way back from Hana and absolutely loved the vibe here. Personal recommendations would include getting the pineapple along with banana split. They have ample seating for small and large groups
This is the last place to eat between Hana and Haleakala NP. And it's well worth the trip! We missed the turns for a couple other places and it was kismet. I ordered the takarashi seared ahi. Seriously. Gourmet food from a food truck . So incredibly delicious. The sear was perfect and the seasoning was outstanding without over powering the flavor of the fish. The mahi mahi tacos were also incredible. We absolutely did not expect this. It's outdoor seating gives an amazing view of the tropical setting and coast. It's covered so you're not in direct sunlight, but it's beautiful. We really look for to our next trip from the mainland.
We cruised the road to Hana and built up an appetite so my husband Googled local places and this is how we ended up at Tony's. The prices are average with other restaurants in Hawaii but the creativity and taste a little better. We got the Cheeseburger to split on a bun made from taro root making it sweet with a purple color. The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned well, fries were fresh and hot. This was our first Hawaiian style lunch from a roadside eatery. You can eat there looking out at the ocean or take it with you. We'd definitely eat here again.
