Top Wok - Redondo Beach

Top Wok disappointed me. I had believed the Chinese take-out comfort food I remember from my youth - no fancy fusion cuisine, no challenging authentic cuisine and not fast food - and after reading these reviews I was hoping that Top Wok would meet the place. I ordered hot shrimps and pork with broccoli. The pig was not great, but the shrimps were the actual catastrophe. There were two shrimps in my hot shrimps. Two. The dish was 80% boiled carrots. If they were from shrimps, they could have told me and I would have ordered something else. The restaurant was clean and empty, the prices were low, and the staff was friendly enough. If I lived from this place over the street, I would try again and hopefully find something on the menu I like.

Los Angeles and the surrounding cities are hidden with stellar restaurants, except the locals they found. In a small stripe shopping center in Redondo Beach lives one of these hidden gems: Top Wok! This is the Chinese food you always hope to be served. It sets the bar high for everything you find in Socal whether super high end or hole in the wall. We live an hour away and drive to Redondo Beach to eat here. Potstickers that are delicate and tasty. Beef sticks I could eat myself as a meal. The sole in hot garlic sauce and shrimp in black bean sauce and both spicy and chock full delicate pieces of fish/shrimp and fresh vegetables. My personal favorite is the Kung Pao (we have the chicken) honestly every time we go for Chinese, that is the Kung Pao we always compare!! No steam table. Cooked to order. It's worth the ride. Seriously, it should be a line on the road. Damn good!

Every time we visit family in Redondo beach, this is our place! The best Chinese food we found at a great price. Your food is always consistently good and consistently has great service.

Everything I've ordered has been great and way better quality than Panda Express. This is the only place where you can order jalapeño fried rice?yum! Love the fact that they deliver?.Don't make the mistake of ordering through GrubHub, though. Order directly from the restaurant!
