Third Times The Charm.. I've been to Tramonto a couple times before and the food was always good, just not great. But...<br/ <br/ Tonight I was rather delighted though. The hostess was warm and welcoming as she took my coat and brought us to our table. Our waiter was very friendly with ample appropriate suggestions. I had the sturgeon and my friend had a caesar salad with garlic prawns. I can't speak for his food but mine was spectacular. My portion was much larger than I anticipated but this is definitely not a complaint! The sturgeon sat atop swiss chard which paired wonderfully with the parsnip puree and foraged mushrooms. <br/ <br/ Service was prompt and friendly with a personality that made me very comfortable, the perfect service for the atmosphere. I'm a server as well and I noticed all of the little things that were done to make sure that my friend and I were always content, I don't think my sparkling water was ever less than half full! Other occasions when I have been here it's been the same, the staff is 11/10!<br/ <br/ My most memorable part of the evening though had to be the dessert, a combination of two of my favourite desserts, I have never seen them paired in such a deliciously beautiful way crème brûlée and tiramisu in one dish. It was too marvelous to explain you are just going to have to go there and try it yourself!
Would love to give it 6 stars!. Had my birthday dinner here and it was amazing. When I entered the restaurant, the very friendly hostess greeted us and welcomed us to Tramonto. She then seated us at a lovely corner table where it was quite and with a great view.We ordered the crab cake which was good. My bf ordered the beef tenderloin and it was so soft and tender, it just melted in my mouth ! I ordered the seafood platter and delightful !!! The yummy clams, lobster tail, crab claw and scallop !! (It came with mussels but I'm not a big fan of it, so I asked for more clams Anyways it's always a pleasure to come here because the food and service is always consistent : I can't wait until I come back again!P.S. You must try there pear sorbet !!!!!
A fine dining gem in Richmond. My wife and I had the occasion to visit Tramonto at the River Rock this weekend. We asked another couple to join us.<br/ <br/ I can’t say enough good things about this establishment. We’ve visited several times a year for a few years now and have yet to be disappointed. Saturday was no exception. What really impresses me, aside from the food and wine, is the knowledge of the staff. When you ask a question about an item on the menu you’re provided with details, not just an overview. What the item is, how the chef prepares it, the accompaniments, etc.<br/ <br/ Two of us had the arancini and two of us had the scallops, as appetizers. Hot and well presented, cooked to perfection. For the mains, two of us had the cannelloni, one had the pork chop, and one had the beef tenderloin. Again, cooked to perfection. I couldn’t decide on a wine so I asked our waiter if I could provide him with an upper limit of what I was prepared to spend, would he pick the wine. He knows my tastes in wine and said it wouldn’t be a problem. He was right on. I’ve got a new wine of the month now.<br/ <br/ I can’t think of a better fine dining experience in the Richmond area, or Vancouver for that matter, just hop on the Canada Line and you're right there. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great food, extensive wine list...oh, and the views. Get a window seat and enjoy a sunset... or 2 or 3. You won’t be disappointed.
