J. Smugs Gastropit - Saint Louis

Way better than sugar fire. I liked everything i tried and i cant wait to go back. The prices are a bit high for a lunch, but the quality is well worth it. A friend that doordashes for a living recommend we go there and i had not heard of it. I was blown away! This has to be one of the best, if not the number one, cuban sandwiches ive had in the area.

We LOVE it here! We were just visiting with my family who lives in a different state than my husband and I. Service was beyond the 5 stars I could give them. The twice cooked appetizer wings, are a MUST. You will enjoy them. Their sauces are all house made and absolutely delicious. I do not like turkey, and even that was great. It was moist and perfectly seasoned. When our party visited a little late in the evening, they were out of brisket, but that did not stop them from giving us generous portions of pork. The macaroni was fairly good, but I loved the Califlower and beans. Ribs were great too! We bought a bottle of their vinegar based Carolina sauce, and we should have purchased more! I will say that it deserved about 2 stars when it came to the veggie burger. One of the people in our party was vegetarian, and I tried a bite. I wish I hadn't. It was quite bland and just tasted a bit like over boiled vegetables on a bun. Maybe you're supposed to put your own sauce on it? Everything else was great!!

My litmus test for a restaurant is a pulled pork sandwich- Smugs has topped the charts with this one. The ribs are Smokey and rich, the pork is tender, and the fries are crispy. Wonderful staff with a surprisingly fantastic bar selection. A perfect St. Louis BBQ experience!

Have you tried the nachos? No? Well what are you waiting for? Get over there. Also try the bread pudding. And any of the tacos, and the Mac and cheese, and the fries, and the ribs. Gotta wrap up this review so I can head there now.

Got carryout a few weeks ago. So, so good! Loved the bbq chicken club. Excellent service, definitely will be back.
