I wasn't hungry on the way there, but once I stepped in I could not wait to eat. I got a hot smokin' turkey with salt vinegar chips. The staff were very friendly and very quick. We got in just before the lunch crowd started to arrive, so that worked out well. The sandwich was the perfect amount of hot with melted cheese and not too many red peppers. I don't know where they get their turkey from, but it's making my mouth water right now. I think this might be the best sandwich place in St. Louis. I have been back about 5 or 6 times since then and am thinking about when I can go back again!
I've had this review in my unfinished drafts for two years now and felt like now is the time to share just how much I loved Nora's! The cold turkey and provolone sandwich was the bomb, and it was not uncommon for me to go to Nora's once a week for this sandwich. Nora's, you will be missed!!
I love this place. It's a small friendly sandwich shop just off the beaten track in Dogtown. Good sandwiches and good salads too. The weird thing about my most recent experience a few months ago was that I went on a Sunday afternoon and they had to close early because they ran out of bread. Huh...a sandwich shop runs out of bread, lol. I was happy to have ordered mine before the shortage!
Absolutely love this place with their best the clock special on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-7pm where the time is the price of your sandwich. Any of their sandwiches are incredible but the Big Bad Wolf Stands Out as one of the main competitors in my opinion. Daily specials and some of the best sandwiches toasted or non makes this a foodie favorite!!
I feel guilty giving them a low(er) rating than what their average is but here's why... Let's start out with this place is a little deli in the middle of a neighborhood. A very cute, adorable area on the outside. I had the smokin' turkey sandwich with roasted red peppers and a chipotle mayo on it. Truthfully, I thought my sandwich was on the bland side besides the very salty turkey taste. The BF got the Dogtown Sub that was also very bland to me besides the salty taste. Nothing special. We also got a side of potato salad that sadly enough was quite disappointing and tasted like mustard. The broccoli pepperjack soup was also nothing to write home about. Didn't have much flavor and barely had any broccoli. This place is quite popular and has a very high rating but I'm not impressed. I felt like this was one of the few places that just hasn't impressed with a high rating on Yelp. I can't forget to mention that the cleanliness of the establishment is quite questionable. Tons of flies. I killed one on the table that was attacking our food. I'm a freak about bathrooms but theirs seemed like it should have been a truck stop. I almost threw up my lunch after seeing how many flies were in the bathroom, it was practically a horror film. I didn't say anything and the BF mentioned it when he came outside. I'm sorry but for my taste buds and health sake, I won't be back.
