The large outdoor terrace overlooks the Basilica of Vézelay. Friendly company, welcoming and knowledgeable service made by employees... for big afternoon.
Wow. What a find! This small wallpaper room at the brewery is very well presented and has a beautiful outdoor area (covered in rain). The beer selection is very wide with a stout, dark camp, ambree, IPA, Blanche and everything in between.... The owner is a Brit, so no need for French skills and everyone is really friendly. The place seems very popular among locals who came for a pint and some takeaways. They have a barbecue and also do snacks and small plates. Really impressed. Will definitely be back.
The Brasserie is located in Saint Pere, just a few kilometres from Vezelay. The brasserie is the factory shop of a small brewery with a lean also outside. But not being abandoned, it was brilliant. It had a mixture of French, British and... German craftsmen (I hope I don't do Belgium a service here). That was great. The locals all agreed, the place was rambled and there was a steady stream of local hunters for an afternoon pint. And since there's a store, Takeaways aren't a problem. The plates on offer to go with the beer (chips, charcuterie, salads) all looked good. This was one of those wonderfully incongruent experiences a beer business in the middle of Burgundy? It happened that the front of the house was led by a very engaging English village, he even had the cricket on this round up so that we could check the world cups! Can't wait to go back! PS, when you come to Saint Pere, visit the local church. A really gothic extravaganza!
You won't ecpecr it, but you get a great meal. The Boeuf Bourgignon is huge, if you can finish it , i can't and i wanted it. Take the housewine on the terras
Tucked away downhill from the village of Vezelay in the village of St. Pere, Vezelay is brewing some certified organic (according to French law) beers in accordance with the 1516 Rienhotsgobot German purity law. Precision-brewed regular beers include a light crisp lager, a classic blonde, a refined interpretation of an IPA, a fine raisiny amber, a uniquely smoked brune (think peat whisky..!), and a luscious coffee stout. The brewery distributes its beers in regional shops as well as other parts of the country, but the real experience is best paired with the air and views had in St. Pere at their brewery/shop, where you find the best deals on their beers, or up the hill in Vezelay with a great view of the surrounding countryside.Oh, and several of their beers are national award-winners, so if you don’t think it’s worth the trip, you might want to think again….
