Seasonal 4 course menu with a couple of optional add-ons, it is such a delightful evening especially when you have even better company and conversation to go along with the food. The Marlena Milk Bread was soft and delicious with the smooth cultured butter so worth the $2.50pp. The cured hiramasa was beautifully presented but could have used a touch more flavor which the little gem salad boasted. It would have been great if the menu offering could be clearer as it said 'California Asparagus which to me meant the vegetable in a hollandaise sauce so we both went with the agnolotti. If I had known it was in a soup/puree form, we would have gotten one of each like the other couple. The sakura pork loin was fork tender and my favorite of the evening and the corvina nicely balanced in flavor. The chocolate creme and coffee cake was a perfect balance of indulgence without being too sweet so definitely prefer over the strawberry rhubarb. It is a solid 4-4/12 stars for food but their unrushed service bumps it up to 5.
Heard about them since they got the Michelin star and finally got a chance to come try their food and for this summer time , they are doing a pop up at the hotel zeppelin since they are renovating their place and would open back in fall I think. So they have the tasting menu at 125$ which is a good price for the food I think but I actually came here spontaneously and actually doing the a la carte menu. They accept walk in. We got a seat right the way after we got there. We ordered drink first , the toasted and fluffy was good the coconut flavor comes through and the marshmallow And even though they got the wrong order for the first one but it's all good since they just gave that to me on the house and the other drink was good too !!!! So I recommend to try their cocktails The food we ordered salad with peach and avocado sauce underneath, so good and they're so nice to split it between me and my other half salmon CRUDO was good also texture from the salt , great! the shrimp was our favorite today , the tomato sauce was superb chicken sandwich was juicy and crunchy and I love their sauce because of the sourness chocolate mousse was smooth and not too sweet Overall for this dinner for me , just perfect I'm looking forward to go to their restaurant again after the renovation and try their tasting menu. See you Marlena , we will definitely visit you again chef David
Fantastic experience! Marlena has started outdoor service, and with their location being right across from Precita Park, its a perfect spot for dinner. They are offering a 4-course dinner for only $50, which is an incredibly good deal. All of the dishes we tried were fantastic! Even the bread and butter was great. Will be going back soon!
Many of the dishes here are very good, especially their take on cacio e pepe, which was phenomenal. But the problem is really the portion sizes. This is a $125 7 course tasting menu, and you really do leave hungry. I say this from the perspective of having had many many tasting menus across SF. This was truly the smallest menu I've had. It doesn't even really boil down to the ingredient cost, as even the cheap dishes were tiny. They could have easily doubled the size of the cacio e pepe for instance with almost no cost... I disagree with some of the other reviews that say the service was bad. I thought that the service was quite attentive.
We had a terrific dinner at Marlena summer camp . We had the seven course meal, which was delicious; each innovative mouthful was full of flavor and texture. The waiter recommended some wines by the glass that my husband and I shared each really complemented the food. We would definitely recommend Marlena and look forward to dining in their renovated home space.
