BE PREPARED TO SPEND OVER $100 PER PERSON ON FOOD. NON TRANSPARENT PRICING.Boyfriend and I got tickets to the jazz show for $45. We also got the prefixe dinner menu for $60 per person, but after a 20 percent service charge, 10 percent employee wellness charge, which DID NOT INCLUDE TIP, we ended up paying $125 per person. Our meals were definitely good, but NOT worth $125. I hate hate hate that the charges were not on the menu prior to receiving the bill. It's just sus and dishonest. I'd come again only for drinks but my mezcal drink was super syrupy and bad.Jazz was wonderful and intimate. Food was good overall.
Fantastic place for a swanky and expensive night out. The music is always top notch, as is the service. But, the steep prices do not reflect the dejected neighborhood that it is in.
A very nice subterranean venue with great acoustics and sight-lines from nearly everywhere. Small, dimly lit, intimate, reasonably priced. During one recent night, the wait staff seemed utterly incompetent, making one mistake after another with several tables (drinks sat on the bar for 10 mins; drinks food were brought to wrong tables repeatedly; one table’s order was never put through, on and on it went. Hopefully this was an anomaly). Annoyingly a 20% service charge is added to the bill, which is about 15% higher than this wait staff deserves. Decent wine by the glass list, good cocktails with quality well spirits.
Food was great, staff was amazing, drinks were good, and the prices were not out of line for California. If smoking indoors was still allowed, this would be the quintessential jazz club! Enjoyed every aspect of the place.Be prepared for the neighborhood in advance, it is the Tenderloin.
