Food was amazing. Ordered 3 rolls and 3 appetizers perfect to share with my friend! Left every plate empty and our tummies full!! Love that it's a hole in the wall and the owner is so sweet and hardworking!! Highly recommend!!
But I like to think he may have at last found some small measure of peace, that we all seek, and few of us ever find... The Last Samurai After a photo shoot in the area I was jonesing for some Japanese. And for some reason Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe in the Last Samurai entered my mind. Don 't ask, my minds always Tokyo drifting. :D I 'm at Mission Bay in the city and was too hungry to trek to Japantown, so I decide to peruse Yelp for some ideas. I find Japanese House just a 10 minute stroll away on 6th in SOMA district. A couple blocks away from the seedier part of town I decide to give it a try. I arrive to a nondescript older building with a Tokyo backroads vibe to it. I walk in like Tom Cruise.. I am greeted and notice the inside is still setup for COVID times of only pickup and delivery, however walking in, I did notice two small tables setup on the sidewalk. I decide to order a Bento Box which comes with two entrées, Japanese rice, green salad, and miso soup. I chose the Chicken Katsu and Teriyaki Salmon. I also add a Martinelli Sparkling Apple Juice (since no teas are being offered atm). I sit at one of the unoccupied tables and after only a minute the miso soup is before me, minutes later, the Bento Box is presented. It looked pretty decent for the $13+ tag. The Chicken Katsu seemed skimpy, but I 've had worse, and flavor wise it was okay. The Salmon Teriyaki is what really saved the dish. Very generous with three fresh pieces with slight crisp skin. The Salmon was grilled properly and on point! In the end, I was satisfied with my experience at Japanese House! It 's not Japantown, but hey it 's a great option if craving Japanese in SOMA! The couple (owners) were polite and definitely more authentic Japanese than Tom Cruise will ever be...
Had curry rice with chicken Katsu and bento box katsu and fried oysters) so yummy and price is good. Each meal comes with miso soup and vegetables. Will definitely come back
My boyfriend and I ordered from here last night and it wasn't worth the food poisoning. Stay away.
