I travel from San Francisco just to try this place. Service was great and food came out fast. Chicken was dry in the noodle soup. Beef steak pho was well done. Seafood noodle was good. Beef ball was good out of the 4 dish. Ice coffee was a bit strong which was good.
I wasn’t overly impressed. Spring rolls were pricey and were mostly rice. Menu prices are high. Service was excellent.
We arrived to a mostly empty restaurant during normal time Tuesday dinner. I was eager to sample item 48: special Da Lat rice noodle soup I had no reason to doubt a heart on the menu and an enticing crab claw wouldn't turn out magical. But, we'd looked at older photos online. Their current soup iteration replaced the crab claw with an extra jumbo shrimp—probably an acceptable trade-off to most people. But not this eater, who has principles. In all seriousness, their final product ended up being not much different from other restaurants'. I couldn't discern anything particularly Da Lat (a distinctive region in Vietnam). They did give big portions, however, and servers were responsive when we needed.
I’m so sad that this place has gone downhill. I use to go here and stopped going for a while. This tables and chairs are sticky and the floors are dirty. The food is not the same. I guess new owners have hired the original owners to help take care of the place but they don’t have their heart in it. You can see and taste it in the food and the way the place is cared for. I was horrified to see a roach craw casually across the floor while I ate.
