Bluebird - Seattle

The ice cream was decent, but I believe it would have been better if I had chosen one of the flavors recommended by the guy behind the counter. He mentioned that the peanut butter, snickerdoodle, and beer flavors are the best.

I have to confess, I was initially doubtful about yet another ice cream shop on the hill, but this place truly impressed me. Bluebird has surpassed Old School Frozen Custard and Molly Moon's in terms of ice cream flavor, atmosphere, and the friendliness of the staff, who are genuinely wonderful people. The ice cream itself is unlike anything I’ve ever tasted—the Elysian stout flavor is especially unique and delicious. The space is full of character, making you feel right at home and eager to linger. Bluebird is clearly set on competing in various areas—offering ice cream, tea, coffee, free Wi-Fi, locally sourced foods, and live music—yet they do it without compromising quality. They’ve successfully carved out their own special niche on the hill.

The salted caramel ice cream strikes a perfect balance, being both salty and intriguingly complex despite its initially light taste—a remarkable accomplishment. The peanut butter and chocolate chunk varieties are rich in flavor without the typical tendency to overwhelm with their main ingredients. They remind you that they are, ultimately, still ice cream. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the crafting of these flavors. The quirky, laid-back ambiance might give the impression of simplicity, but there's genuine sophistication at play behind the counter, making you feel as though you've found a hidden treasure.

The smell coming out the doors and windows of this place is stellar. The Ice Cream is fresh, inventive, and changes with the season. The space is also a great place, full of games to play with friends. There's also a pretty good draft beer selection. They work with a lot of different businesses in the area to source their flavors, from Stumptown Coffee, Theo Chocolate, to Elysian Brewery.

Me and the family popped in here tonight, what a great little place. Together we had the chocolate pudding, vanilla bean, and the salted caramel I've cream. Based on our experience and the small taste of the marionberry ice cream I can strongly recommend this parlor.
