We got downstairs and the waiter couldn’t find us on the list? I said no meat on the form I filled in and he didn’t receive that information. We got 3 lots of stand which which were quite poor. Not going again…. Gutted it wasn’t what we were expecting.
We were not in the restaurant booked as there was a wedding function taking place. We were in The Laura Ashley Tea Rooms. We were not advised of this in advance and had to ask at hotel reception. The room was very nice, however no atmosphere and extremely cold. The food was only ok. I ordered goats cheese tart to start which was very dry. My desert was bakewell which was also dry.
The menu had changed but the ones handed out had not. It was the first afternoon tea that did not have a selection of teas and coffee was not of any great quality. The pastries did not look nice and seemed like they were bought from the supermarket. The scones were not warm or looked or tasted as if store bought rather than freshly made. The sandwiches were a mess and again not really very tasty and very cheaply made. The sad thing is the room was pretty and the staff amazing but the product was not worth even a fiver.
Food at best very average for the price... steak toastie very overpriced for the quality and quantity... service needed to be better
We came as a family to celebrate my birthday expecting a traditional Sunday lunch as advertised on your site. When we arrived we were told that Sunday lunches were no longer available. Although the meal was very nice it was a lot more expensive than expected considering my parents were paying for the meal it was very uncomfortable for me. I thought given the circumstances a discount would have been offered but that wasn’t the case. I’m not sure we’ll be coming again. The waiter was very good we didn’t blame him as it wasn’t his fault.
