The Dawnay Arms

We stumbled upon the Dawney Arms by chance, and we couldn't be happier about it. The food was exceptional. The staff member who served us was impeccable—very accommodating, efficient, helpful, and friendly. The landlady, who is also the chef, personally came to our table to ensure we were satisfied with our meals. I must say, this was one of the best pub meals we've had in a long time, and I highly recommend visiting this little gem. Wonderful experience! I stopped by for a meal while passing through and received a warm and friendly welcome from both the staff and the locals. The menu offered a great variety of drinks and dishes to suit all tastes. The quality, portion size, and value of our meals were exceptional. Everything seemed homemade, fresh, and served piping hot. I will definitely visit again if I’m in the area! We went tonight for dinner, food, service and atmosphere excellent, landlady very accomodating as we're bar staff. Food was freshly cooked and very enjoyable. I would say this is without a doubt the best pub for food, service and atmosphere I've ever had the fortunate luck to have discovered. The landlady is the chef and she's so good that she introduced herself and personally came out to make sure we were satisfied with our food which of course was possibly the best quality and home made available and the portion sizes are very generous but isn't reflected in the price. Exceptional value for money. We would dedicatedly call in again next time we visit York.
