Unfortunately, we did not find the servers at all friendly and even a bit neglected for not saying dirty. In addition, food was bad and unspoiled with bad quality wines. In general, the place lacks terrible charm, it is really a pity, considering the beautiful landscapes around! this is a typical restaurant for tourists and non-repeaters without authenticity.
We made a cross-country tour and had lunch on the terrace! The waiter was friendly, but could not speak well German. I ordered a fitness plate and was informed that the chicken slices are served with the salad grilled. I received crumbs of chickens deep roasted. And they were not cooked by still raw inside! I returned my plate and got the same pieces a bit more cooked! This is really a shame that such a beautiful location offers meals like this!
As in so many Swiss restaurants, the kitchen simply shuts off at 9.30, even if you eat five people good food, so if you want a dessert, like a bunch of united French, the **** chefs just clean up. Well, some items on the menu are excellent, I RECOMMEND the LOCAL SPECIALITIES, THE SOUP AND CAMPUNS. I had a lovely deer steak with mushrooms and fried pear after two parts of campuns. I ordered a second for every taste. Hard to describe the campuns, a kind of ball with dried meat, folded with a leaf in a delicious sauce (try to find exactly what on STUPID AMERICAN BIASED GOOGLE). Our son had excellent lambcuffs on a bed of a very good risotto. The cook we said is Italian, so the food has heart and some skill. My delicious deer fillet was very lightly overdue, but still excellent. The green salad of my wife was very overpriced, like my son in the law 's trout that was boiled over. He also began with a very good soup a l 'orge- a local specialty, wheat soup. The waiters were very pleasant, I had a good tip for the multilingual Indian waiter, a very charming man. I think they were a bit embarrassing when we ordered desserts after 9.30 to tell us that the kitchen was closed!!!! They managed to keep a part of a very good nut cream dessert for my wife and daughter, my son had ice cream, but the nut cake I tried to make at home was very average. BIT DISAPPOINTING AND APPROPRIATELY JUST GOOD that you don't have an EXCELLENT REVIEW. Instead of a disgrace and a big 'know better'!
We thought of a late lunch and were very pleasantly surprised. We have tried many restaurants in Engadine, and we found this one of the best. All the dishes we had were delicious, healthy and with a spin. I had a pumpkin soup that was perfect without cream, we tried the Easter cake and it was delicious and fresh, the Crapons with vegetables again fresh and excellent. We had the impression that the cook chose seasonal ingredients. The restaurant in autumn has a chestnut menu, but we were in April, so will go back to try the autumn menu.
Nice tidy Engadine restaurant with the usual bits of history (old skis and a chamois skin) on the wall. Food well cooked and service perfectly respectable.
