There's a little market area to purchase fresh seafood and next to that there's an ordering food window. The young lady greeted me upon entering and was very courteous in taking my order. Contrary to some of the previous reviews, I'm glad the young folk are working during the summer and not out causing trouble. It's also a responsible choice given that it's not cheap buying items to be somewhat trendy. We did it when we were young but it's very expensive now-a-days especially with all the technology out there. They had your typical soda selection and sweet, unsweetened tea plus watermelon lemonade. Made an unsweetened Arnold Palmer with the watermelon lemonade and I'd have to say I was not disappointed. The food came out shortly after taking my seat. It was hot and cooked just right. The shrimp was a decent size and the breading was delicious not like others I've had. The hush puppies were NOT overcooked or hard. They were crisp exterior and a soft moist flavorful inside. The restaurant could use a good cleaning. Not sure if they're not preparing the mop water correctly but it seemed to have sticky sounding floors and could use a sweeping. I would return to have lunch or try their dinner selection. I did return because I thought i was overcharged but I wasn't. Didn't receive an itemized receipt so I wasn't sure. When I return to bring it up to the cashier, a different young lady was there, equally as courteous and checked for accuracy and reprinted the receipt. I forget how lunches have increased in price and sometimes you pay for the drink. Which in this case, it's not included with the lunch plate. Which is fine, they have to make a living too and pay their workers. Overall I am satisfied.Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp and an extra wide door into the establishment.
First off, FLIES kept flying around us and our food. 2nd, I believe I got a stomach bug after eating here. I didn't eat much but I did have a couple raw oysters and the tea with lemonade. Soon after, I started belching Sulphur smelling gas, followed by stomach ache and diarrhea. Can't say for sure it was from this place, but the symptoms happened soon after. I have been miserable for 3 days so far.I also noted that the utensils appeared dirty and most of the ketchup bottles were empty. I had to grab two near empty bottles just to have enough for dipping.Service was decent but my partner noted the fact that the place was being ran by teens.I've had crawfish from them before with no issue. Therefore, I'm not giving them as low a rating as I'm currently feeling.
Stopped in on Mother’s Day to buy a few pounds of crawfish and a dozen boiled crabs to eat at home. We were at another close by seafood market but they didn’t have any crabs after waiting in line for over 30 mins. I’m so glad we went to Pearls because now I’ve found a new spot for good boiled crabs “they were delicious” and we had friendly service. We had a few people before us but the lady acknowledged us by saying she would be right with us. This place was nice and seemed like family restaurant. I have to come back to dine in one day.
This is a seafood market and restaurant. There is something for everyone in my opinion. The charbroiled oysters were awesome. I got fried meat pies that were a little bit over cooked for my liking but that’s OK. The gravy was awesome and the filling was spot on.The ambience of this family owned restaurant is really great and the mural on the back wall is awesome of Lake Pontchartrain.
Would NOT RECOMMEND! I called to try and place an order for a sack of crawfish for my dad to pickup tomorrow morning to transport to Florida for me. I called 6 times, the first time they answered and were going to put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called 5 more times, the last time they answered again. Put me on hold which I could hear a whole conversation about a new customer that was complaining about their food that him and his wife ordered that was raw and inedible. Poor customer service. Doesn 't sound like their food is very good and may make you sick. So disappointed, as I was really looking forward to being able to cook some crawfish for my kids for the first time.
