Our total bill came to £20 for two granary bread sandwiches, two coffees, a flapjack, and a scotch egg. The coffee was delicious.
Has gone massively downhill . Used to be a great place to eat/drink. Loads of dirty tables . One guy behind the counter was barking at the young lads serving saying ‘if you’ve got nothing to do you can do this’ and ‘are any of you serving?’ when they quite clearly were whilst he was just wandering round the shop saying someone ‘must have been on the weed’ charming. I never spend another penny in places who talk to their staff like dirt in front of customers so this will be my last visit.
We were disappointed to return to our local cafe recently. We waited in line for 10 minutes to be served, even though it wasn't very busy. The staff seemed unenthusiastic and didn't greet us. When we finally placed our order, our cakes were served in paper bags and we had to wait an additional 12 minutes for our tea, which was served in disposable cups. We didn't feel comfortable asking for anything else due to the slow service. We have visited the cafe many times after Covid and previously enjoyed their tea served in nice cups and plates. We hope that Wedges can improve their service in the future. We gave the cafe a 2 rating as the food was decent and the setting was nice.
Food looks good but the hot cross buns were hard and very little fruit and over priced. “Serving” coffee in disposable cups and from a self serve machine also very poor. Not a good flavour at all and again far too expensive for such a poor quality. I think this establishment needs to decide whether it is a bakery/shop or a cafe it is currently trying to be both badly.
Brought a homemade farmhouse fruit cake to use at a family gathering a few days later . When I went to use it I found out that the best before date has expired the day before I brought it . The cake had turned soggy and the sugar on top had started to turn Googy and sticky. I'm not one to leave negative reviews but having contacted bakery about issue and had no response on what was £5.49 wasted I'm not impressed . Maybe me own fault not to check date just assumed it would be fresh . Went out of my way after a visit to NEC to visit this places as I had read such good reviews wished I hadn't bothered and saved myself money.
