Although tasty, fake meat is only nice to have once in awhile, I think being vegetarian means that you have to eat more vegetables. Because they are wholesales store, you have to buy more to save.
They are Not a restaurant. They are a whole sale/market store selling raw veggie food and you need to bring home and cook it. They have been moved but haven't updated the address on Yelp. Their new location is 10942 Klingerman St Suite B South El Monte, CA 91733
Da Cheng's food have never disappointed me! I have been their royal customer ever since they opened their 2nd branch in El Monte, California. Their Crispy Chicken tastes very good and healthy too, if you are vegetarian and looking for something that just taste like meats or chickens, you need to try their products!
I had never had vegetarian food before so when my roomie 's friend came over to cook for us, I was super surprised to find that her vegetarian ham seemed so much like real meat!! So surprised that I just HAD to find out where she got it from!! xD Da Cheng seems more like a warehouse/wholesale place then a real store. It kind of actually is a wholesale place because you can find some of their products in local Asian supermarkets! P They had huge freezers of vegetarian meats in the back and shelves of vegetarian cookies and snacks in the front room. The lady in the front actually had the front door locked because she was the only one working there that day, but she quickly came to the door to let us in and was very friendly and helpful! Since I was not really familiar with vegetarian food, she was very nice and patient and offered her recommendations. (Just know that she speaks Chinese! I was super lucky and came on a day when they had a Buy 1 Get 1 Free special for their ham! $6 for 2 logs of ham! Great deal! D When I cooked it at home, my brother (who 's as carnivorous as it gets! would not believe that it was vegetarian! It was THAT good! :P I tried some of their vegetarian chicken too. I used it in a curry, but the chicken kind of got soggy so next time, I 'm going to try making salt and pepper chicken instead. Yummy! This place has definitely opened me up to trying more vegetarian foods!! So much so that my dad thinks I 'm becoming vegetarian! Haha!
