The entrance door to our building seemed like it used to have a key card entry system, but it was broken. Our actual room didn't smell, thankfully, but there were molds on the curtains, stains on the carpet and walls, and condensation on the windows in the morning. The bed was uncomfortably hard and left me with aches for days. The furniture was old and worn, and the view from our window was of the parking lot and bins. The only saving grace of our room was the modern, clean bathroom. I spoke to the manager to complain, and he was understanding and apologized, but unfortunately, there were no other rooms available to switch to. He discounted our breakfast as a gesture of goodwill. After a rough night, we went to the main house for breakfast in the basement with no view. We were surprised to find a buffet, as most other hotels we stayed in had switched to table service due to COVID-19. There was only one hand sanitizer station, so there was a lot of waiting to use it. The breakfast itself was okay, but not particularly healthy. It's a shame that the rooms have been neglected, as a deep clean, some fresh paint, and new furniture could easily improve the situation. The only reason I gave this hotel 2 stars instead of 1 is because the staff we encountered were polite and friendly.
On a positive note, the hall itself was beautiful and the grounds were well-maintained thanks to the hard work of the staff. The staff were friendly and helpful, although they seemed to be under a lot of pressure and could benefit from additional support. The food at the restaurant was delicious and we even received complimentary drinks on our first night. The golf course had a stunning view and was a challenging course for experienced players. Overall, there is room for improvement at the hotel, but we look forward to returning next year in hopes of seeing some upgrades. A big thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome during our stay.
I visited this restaurant in 2020 for a planned event that was canceled and rescheduled for 2021. The venue did not have any issues transferring the booking, but since our original plans fell through, we decided to use it for a weekend getaway instead. The venue itself is stunning and has the potential to host a great event. The staff were very helpful, although they seemed a bit overwhelmed and could use some additional help. Our rooms were located in the stable courtyard and, I have to say, for a modern "standard room" it was subpar but budget-friendly. We requested to be moved to a better room but they were fully booked, so we had to make do. The food, both dinner and breakfast, were satisfactory - we've had worse. However, the venue itself seemed a bit worn out and dated, which was disappointing considering some similar comments from 2018 reviews. It seems like the place could use some more attentive management as both the building and staff deserve better.
Man and I have restored old memories. how I trained here many years ago. we were not disappointed. the building is not located in the best conditions, but you can see that it is restored in its former glory. the personal was wonderful and could not do enough for us. the area is beautiful and also restored. the food was cooked to perfection and served beautifully. we had a fabulous weekend and would like to thank everyone in the hotel.
All the signs are up telling you to wear facemasks, hand sanitizer about but the couple at the reception desk in front of us did not wear masks the couple that came in behind us were not wearing masks and another couple only one of...them were wearing a mask, sitting in the foyer. No staff asked them to put them on The staff have no face covering. Forget any review about afternoon tea or anything else. This is a disgrace and a lack of care for visitors and guests
