My friends and I hit up 50/Fifty Kitchen on the recommendation of a friend because of their vegetarian menu. True to its name and mission, half of 50/Fifty's menu is vegetarian options. Our table ordered a mix of appetizers and meat and meatless plates (meatloaf, salmon and vegetable curry) to share. Chickpea fries were the *standout* appetizer do not skip these and order enough to share. The chef took a moment to welcome us and make some suggestions, and everything turned out great. The only drawback was the live music coming in from the dining room area, but that wasn't a problem after everyone in our group arrived (we sat in the front room bar area, separate from the dining room) and we all got to talking. Great food, nice atmosphere, good for date night or to take out of town friends and show off our city.
This was the first time at 50/50. We caught you at a disadvantage. You were short on servers because of an emergency and the server that was there was working her tail off. I have to say that my high marks would go directly to the honesty and hospitality of the owner, Bob, and our server. You both let us know what was happening and offered your apologies. Admittedly, we were there primarily for the music. The dining was for convenience. I was disappointed that the entertainment was in the adjacent room. There was an art show going on in same room. I 'm still not clear as to how the 'music room ' is normally set up. Eventually, we were able to be seated and enjoy the experience of Bach to the Future with Dave Black. I was disappointed not to be able to view the skills of the Jay Oliver Trio. They were playing during dinner. I 'm hoping to try and catch Chuck Flowers, who will be performing on November 30. If I call for a reservation, can I specify the 'music room? ' All that said, it was a pleasure meeting the people serving at 50/50 Kitchen. That by far will get me coming back!
Great atmosphere and service. Great cocktails. The vegetarian food was very well done, but the salmon was uninspired
We've been here twice. I think the place has real potential, but not quite there yet. The service is unattentive. There are some interesting items on the menu (limited) and the execution is pretty good, but room for improvement. It has a nice atmosphere and when we visited, there was very nice live music both times. I'd like to see them just step up their game.
