In 1885, a sawmill was built, which was operated by the windmill. because the wind power alone was not sufficient and one wanted to make oneself more independent of the wind, a steam engine was bought in 1904. they can choose between wind and steam power. In 1910 the mill was rebuilt and modernized after a brand and the mill was expanded by an oil mill for producing small oil. In 1923 the wings were destroyed and the mill operation in 1924 was switched to electric drive. In 1937 a final modernization of the mais grinder took place. the daily meal was then comminuted at 1.5 tons. the mill remained in the private property of the müller family. However, the work volume has been reduced more and more. In 1964 the damaged tower hood was repaired. in the same year it came to the setting of flour production and the chalk mill was used only for food processing. the oil press was stopped around 1975. only in some weeks in the year saw and snipered the müller for private persons. the construction and the construction of the mill is increasingly fallen. in the 1980s, the sawmill was rented to cope with a large order from a saw operation. In 1988 the last müller sold the mill to the veb denkmalpflege cottbus, who had only operated the sawmill. the denkmalpflege cottbus gmbh (after the veb) had no interest in the object even due to the devastated condition of the mill and sold it in 1990 the common straupitz. due to the irregularity in the purchase, the mill fell to the category “Open Asset Issues” and “Unexplained Property” by 1998. the promotion of the mill could therefore not be granted first. but in 1994 the community began to take on its own responsibility with an Abm project to preserve and rebuild the historical windmill. In 1995, it was founded as an operator of the mühlenverein, from 2001 a complete renovation of the entire plant was carried out and the müllerhaus was rebuilt. In 2005, the 25 tons heavy tower cap was refurbished and new wings (clamp width 23 m) were mounted. today the mill is well visited attraction in straupitz. from the parking lot the way leads first to the new müllerhaus, today cashier, shop and snack. the entry costs 3.50 €. in the offer is, of course, small oil from own production, a quarter liter costs 5,50 € and it is fabulously good – no bitter substances – a nut. it is stable for 4 to 6 weeks. or they can do it for up to a year, even that is possible. the tour begins in the actual windmill (grain mill). on several days one gets a impression of the müllerhandwerk and from the way of the tidal to the flour. It goes very narrow and on the ascent very steep. Therefore, they should check whether they can imagine the rise in the upper etagens. the mill is fully functional and is still used today for shrubs and for the grinding of flour for homemade müllerbrot. nächte etappe is the oil mill, where the lice oil is squeezed out of lonely. this part is actually constantly in operation. here you can also see the old transmission in function. a worker explains in detail the small oil extraction and is not tired to answer the probably always same question. from 15 kg of prepared salve seeds are obtained 2.5 liters of cold-pressed brown coal oil. ol is by the way with the highest proportion of omega-3 fatty acids. the squeezed-out residue, the so-called small cake, can be used as broth flour. the large part is however used as qualitatiw high quality animal feed and is particularly desirable for animal breeders where it comes to shiny drops. here you can also taste the homemade little oil delicious. afterwards they can also not tap cheap kunella oil smoothly into the fuel oil tank. in the next room you can take another look at the transfer. In addition, there is a small representation of the history of the mill and the small last station, the sawmill with the large horizontal tor of about 1900 with a saw blade for horizontal saw each one of a plate of a very thick stem (saw speed approx. 7 m per hour. In addition, there is also a full radiator of 1885 with several vertical saw blades, with up to 45cm diameter being divided into one work step. also the sawmill is still occasional and for shows in operation. in all rooms, detailed information boards are attached to the exhibited facilities and work steps. all in all – very worth seeing!
Again straupitz, then I am no longer boring with my holiday memories. grubmard had already rated many stalls in the spreewald, so we also visited some of them. after the church and the mais storage we drove to the windmill of the straupitz. 800 m from the church to the mill. the advertised themselves with: “Technical diekmal european cultural heritage dutch windmill straupitz spreewald europa’s last producing windmill with three mullery works under one dach: mahlmühle oil mill awmill again in operation as 100 years ago!” it could also be wind, ende august did nothing except the service that guests were writing.
