Truman Café Custard - Taney County

This place is super cute and looked liked they knew how to make a good hot chocolate with good chocolate. I ordered the hot chocolate and it was awful. I ended up drinking half because I spent $5 on it. When we asked how they made the hot chocolate they said all they had was chocolate syrup (and not the kind I'd spend $5 on) and they had run out of whatever chocolate they usually use. Ok, well if that was the case I felt they should have charged half the price if they knew they didn't have what they advertise on the menu. OR taken it off the menu. Just saying. Also, the macaroons were SO bad. Don't get them unless you want to chip a tooth. I would have thought this place would have some great stuff with how expensive things are (I mean we are staying at a beautiful resort), but nope, very disappointed.

Coffee ain't cheap, but when its the only place on the property open early and slinging coffee early, you head on over. Love the decor here and the people who work the counter, couldn't be nicer, especially in the early morning hours. The first day I had a pumpkin spiced latte, but the rest of my trip and 4 times after, I came back daily for an oat milk lavender latte and my oh my, it was delicious! Had a chocolate chip pumpkin muffin one morning that was outrageously delicious and gone in two seconds. Everything was wonderful, especially the service. And, they work fast! Only gripe.....my golfers left around 5:30 and wanted coffee, but the shop doesn't open til 6.

I am sure most of you know how special Big Cedar lodge is. Well, nothing is lost on the Truman Cafe. Quick, Delicous and Friendly all sum up the Truman! You walk in and place your order, find a place to sit and enjoy!

I want to like Truman's more than I do. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent place for breakfast and treats with a great patio it's just that the food lacks in flavor. This includes everything from sandwiches, breakfast burritos to smoothies. There's no doubt I'll be back but I feel like it could be so much better.

A great place for breakfast at Big Cedar. You go to the counter, order, and find a table. Our friend said it’s the best quiche she has ever eaten. All 4 of us were pleased with the food. The staff was friendly and helpful. We went twice.
