The most entertaining restaurant in Manila! The food was great serving traditional Filipino favorites. We ordered Kare Kare, ginataang manok, crispy pata, and gulaman at sago drinks all great with high praises. The showmanship of all the cooks and servers were spectacular. They sing, dance, serve, and are all hilarious! The song choices were from kiddy songs to old school pop music. They kept us entertained and often ask guests to participate during dances, of course it's not required simply say no. Exceeded my expectation and surely will return whenever I'm back in Manila. Believe me, you will NOT be disappointed!
It's very unique. Brought family from abroad and they also was entertained to actually get entertained and be eating at the same time. A great testaurant experience to remember forever.
The place is nice. Friendly and very interactive staff. The entertainment is superb. The food is delicious but not that extraordinary. The seafood in particular is kind of off but the over all experience is very enjoyable.
It is a natural for Filipinos to be merry, no wonder we are always considered to be the happiest people in the world. Three things Filipinos love the most are: companionship of family, good food, and karaoke opportunities. At the Singing Cooks and Waiters, atbp., you will feel all the love because these three are met and you are guaranteed to have a good time. I remember seeing this restaurant when I was younger, but don 't remember having dined there. It is located in the corner of Buendia and Roxas Blvd. A little hard to find even with the big sign and huge establishment, since Waze will direct you to a different area. Anyway, fate has brought me to be invited to try their dishes. Since I have started talking the three things Filipinos love, I will dwell on them for this review: FAMILY Singing Cooks and Waiters is a great place to bring your family, especially balikbayans who haven 't gone home for a long time. You will be served with good, traditional, authentic Filipino cuisine that is at par with the best of the best, and be serenaded by the singing cooks and waiters, and be entertained with their dancing and performances as well. It will give you a nostalgic feeling of the warmth and comfort of the good 'ol days. FOOD I often have negative feedbacks on the restaurants I 've tried, but this time, I was left speechless. I couldn 't find anything wrong with the food, everything was at par and I was overwhelmed by what I 've tried. It was beyond expectations. Here are some of the dishes we tried: Sago 't Gulaman (Php80) : the traditional sweet drink of the Filipinos, made with palm sugar sweetened juice with tapioca pearls and gelatin squares. The sweetness of this drink can be customized. I also like that the pearls and gelatin are tasteless, and will just depend on the taste of the liquid. Four seasons (Php140) : a shake made with fresh papaya, mango, calamansi, and pineapple, you can taste the freshness of the fruits and a good accompaniment to the dishes. Boat Sisig (Php740) : half bangus sisig and half crunchy pork sisig (pork cheeks and ears), separated by a river of crispy chicken skin. This appetizer is a staple and a favorite among Filipino dishes. It is salty, spicy, cruncy, and flavorful. Seafood sa Gata Luto sa Buho (Php680) : I love gata (coconut milk) and I really love this dish. It is catfish, sea crab, prawns, escargot (snails) mussels, clams, and river spinach that is cooked with coconut milk in a bamboo branch over live coals. The sauce is light and not overpowering. It has a very seafood y aroma. Just the sauce with rice is already a good meal. Lumpiang Jalapeno (Php280) : often called dynamite, these are pork stuffed chili then wrapped in a springroll wrapper and deep fried. The garnish is a delight. I like that it has big servings and filled with meaty pork. The chili is also not too spicy for my taste. Chicken Tinupig (Php560) : the Filipino version of chicken tandoori. It is a whole chicken cooked in coconut milk and spices then wrapped in banana leaves then grilled in live coals until tender. The aroma of this chicken is wonderful with the banana leaves and spices. It is moist, sweet, and tender, you cannot stop eating it. I prefer eating this dish without sauce, although a liver sauce is provided on the side. Ginataang Sitaw at Kalabasa (Php360) : same tasty coconut milk used in the seafood, but this time filled with crunchy and healthy green beans and pumpkin slices. Delicious and not satiating. Kalderetang Baka (Php520) : one of the best kaldereta dish I have ever tried. The beef is so tender and the tomato stew is so flavorful, especially with the generous additions of chicken liver and cheese. Kambing (goat) version is also available (Php580). Pakbet with Pork and Shrimp (Php360) : this dish was prepared on the spot by our singing and dancing cooks. A good vegetable dish with a sweet salty bagoong sauce. The meat was tender and the vegetables, crunchy. Suman sa Latik at Mangga (Php230) : I love rice cakes, and this topped it all. I love their version of suman which is made from glutinous rice and cooked in banana leaves. I have tried this when I was younger, said to be healthy. It is accompanied by some mango slices and leche flan, and swimming in a pool of latik (coconut caramel). I love the fact that everything is tasteless except for the latok which sweetens everything. The ingredients are not in competition with each other, but complemented each other. Coco Loco Frost (Php140) : coconut strips, pandan jelly, and tapioca pearls in sweetened coconut cream topped with ice cream. A good dish as well as each ingredient complements each other. SINGING You would be happy to know that all the staffs are good singers/performers. I heard that singing is part ofntheir job interview. I 'm wondering why they haven 't join any singing competitions yet. You will be serenaded while waiting for your food, when being served, and by almost anytime.
