The Shakespeare Inn

I recently visited The Shakespeare in July as part of our annual Woodbridge to Water Rat Pub Crawl and perused the menu. Impressed by the selection, I decided to book a table for myself and my partner in August. I had heard great things about The Shakespeare and was excited to try it out. The menu offered a variety of options such as grills, sizzling dishes, curries, burgers, and other mains. I opted for the Beef Chinese Curry with extra spice, while my partner chose the Chicken Sizzler. We sat outside in the evening sun, enjoying our drinks. Despite a delay in our food arriving, the quality was disappointing. The sizzling dish had lost its sizzle and my curry sauce had formed a skin, both covered in a mound of thick chips. The flavors were lackluster and the beef tasted like casserole steak rather than frying steak. I left most of my meal uneaten and my partner found hers to be bland as well. Overall, we were unimpressed and left feeling hungry. It's possible that it was just an off night, as the restaurant has received positive reviews from others. One silver lining for those seeking a break from technology is that The Shakespeare's WiFi does not work, allowing for a distraction-free dining experience.

We visited the restaurant on a busy Thursday night. There was a bit of a wait for our food, but the staff were working hard and very apologetic for the delay. I ordered the king prawn sizzler, after trying the beef, chicken, and duck on previous visits, and it was delicious. My husband particularly enjoys the haddock and chips, which has now been changed to cod but is still just as good. We are always too full to have dessert during our visits.

Great food, reasonable prices, attentive staff. Skip the starters as the main dishes are generous. I tried the mixed grill (excellent) and beef sizzler on my second visit.

Visited here last night very poor staff ordered wrong dish for my husband had to be returned so we ate our meals separately., not like it was the owners have taken their eyes off the ball with this place .. our meals were warm not hot .. glasses were dusty we won’t be returning

First time visiting. The food was superb, generous portions, beautifully presented , tasted great. Good value for money. Choice of gluten free. My family and I had the roast beef dinner and the nut roast. Definitely will go there again.
