Contribuisci feedbackI absolutely love hot pot. However, I don't have many hot pot places I am fond of but Chun La Hao Chong Qing is right up my alley. It reminds me of Little Sheep with a szechuan twist to it. Calling all peppercorn lovers. The good thing about CLHCQ is that they offer different broths and can split the pot in two. We ordered half bone soup, half spicy. Both were very tasty. However, the spicy broth contains a lot of oil which can become difficult to eat. The menu here is a la carte. They have a wide array of options to choose from but some of our favorites are: -fish ball with roe -black tripe -imitation crab sticks -angus beef brisket -pork belly -crispy pork (it's like popcorn chicken but with pork) -tapioca pasta -beef tendon meatball list goes on...lol. What makes CLHCQ stand out is their sauce and salad/snack bar. The sauce bar has different sauces to cater to your preference. There's asian bbq sauce, garlic, chili oil, sesame oil, black vinegar, etc. Also has garnishes of coriander, green onions, red chilis, etc. The salad/snack bar has fermented vegetables and small bites of different chips, edamame, peanuts, and desserts. We leave here happy customers and a full belly. Workers are friendly and our favorite server Seven always takes care of us. This is one of our favorite places and can eat it any season of the year!
We met some friends here for dinner after someone in our group suggested it. It's very Asian y, with lots of wooden tables and chairs. They also conveniently placed an extra shelf at the end of every table for all the hot pot ingredients. You order by marking what you want on menu sheet. Then they have a sauce bar and snack/dessert bar. I believe its $2 per person to use the sauce and snack bars. The sauce bar was cool. In additions to sauce, they had lots of small appetizers, snacks, fruit and other stuff. And then they charge for each thing the broth and all the different ingredients. We may have over ordered. We finished most everything but it was a struggle. So my suggestion is to order light at the beginning and you can always add things later on if you're still hungry. It may take a minute to flag down a wait staff but the ingredients come out pretty quickly. We may have over ordered a bit at the beginning but it was mostly noodles. Noodles expand and they fill you up. At least it wasn't the meat, which we saw a lot left over at the adjacent table. Wonder if we could've taken the extra food home. I suppose since it wasn't AYCE, you get charged for what you bought and if you bought it and didn't eat it you could bring it home. Choosing the broth was a bit confusing. They explained and I still didn't really get it. I just know we got half spicy and half non spicy broth. The spicy side was the numbing type of chilies. I didn't have any but those who did, were sweating from their heads. Haha. They definitely couldn't leave anything in there for too long, otherwise it would've been too spicy. I liked the regular both again not sure what it was exactly but it was flavorful. We were able to get sampler platters of veggies, mushrooms, and tofu. And for the meat, we tried the lamb and the CAB ribeye. And of course, we got so many noodles they have handmade noodles, as well as the bean thread ones. It was a pricy meal I think like $40+ pp, so things can add up. But we were stuffed. Also the other cool thing were their chopsticks these were long and super good quality wooden ones. Great for hot pot. I wonder if they wash and reuse them. Otherwise seems like such a waste.
Many selections on dishes. Soup base is tasty but spicy. Dessert bar is delicious too. Definitely coming back
The worst hot pot I ever had. The sesame oil is incredibly bad. I can't believe this business is still alive.
If you like hot pot, then you DEFINITELY have to check this place out. This place is like Hai Ding Lao, but more aesthetic, affordable, more sauce options, and sides included. The broth I got was the bone soup/half&half (left), spicy (right) which tasted almost the same as Hai Ding Lao with few minor differences. Meat was pretty good, and their noodles were just as tasty too. They have a bunch of snacks you can get, as well as different sauces. They have really unique sauces here, better than Hai Ding Lao. It was also a nice gesture that they offered complimentary sides. I do wish that the snacks, sauces, and sides were not out in the open for people to get but instead delivered at your table (for health and safety issues). But overall, this place was great. I definitely will be coming back and trying out other things on the menu.
