We pitched up rather late for lunch but received a warm welcome from Nicola who was happy to offer lunch. The pub was fairly empty which was lovely for Crackers (our rescue Puli) who has been feeling a bit stressed this week. She was indulged by Nicola who spoilt her with treats. We had a simple but very well cooked lunch. My beer, Rev James, was really good, one I had never had before. See photo. The pub is large with a number of old pub games I had never seen before: the Frog game and Toad in the hole. If we lived locally we would patronise this pub. Thank you.
We stayed here for a week, using it as a base whilst visiting the Cotswolds. It was a lovely place, the staff were all so welcoming and pleasant by the time we left it was as though we'd been friends for ages! The breakfast was freshly made to order with a good choice. The evening menu was small, but we ate there a couple of times and the food was delicious. The only reason I can't give a 5 is because the room we were given was right above the bar and was very noisy until very late, and the outside lights were on each side of the window and weren't turned off til gone midnight! However when we asked to move they happily obliged without a second thought. So just request to not be given room 3 and you'll have a great night's sleep. Also, our trip was part of our honeymoon and we were greeted with candles, rose petals, chocolates, and a Swan on the bed which was a wonderful touch
We stayed here on our long trip down to Cornwall. Fabulous place, excellent value for money and Sophia the host was brilliant… can’t fault it..
Friendly, welcoming and good cooking. Sophia keeps comfortable well decorated clean rooms and a helpful team.
