We sat in the little patio at the back of the restaurant which was really neat. Both of us ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, which was amazing. Mine had the side of coconut rice which was good and my partner had the mac and cheese which she loved. I had a Red Stripe for my drink which went well with the food. Service was friendly, maybe a little slow, but we were in no rush. Looks like they have live music, but it must be later in the night. I recommend Harlem if you are looking for some southern cooking.
This lil gem stands out on it's own on Richmond and Church! The food here is amazing!...just the right amount of spicy flavors to get your taste buds dancing! Upstairs has live music and can get busy pretty quickly so try to make a reservation if not just hang out downstairs and enjoy yourself with great food and drinks.Peter provided excellent service and was very comical and I intend to return often with friends. Drink suggestions: Ragtime punch (I asked for dark rum) and the Harlem Mule .
My husband and I visited Harlem's for my birthday dinner. We had been wanting to try it out for some time. We sat upstairs as there was entertainment. There are not a lot of tables upstairs, not sure about on the main level. Our drink orders were taken right away, and I had a Caesar that was more of a meal than a drink. The drink was garnished with a stack of waffles and fried chicken. We had the plantains and the Harlem crisps to start, both were ok but the plantains are more of a dessert than an appetizer. We ordered the Catfish and Chicken and Waffles for our meals. Our dinner took quite a long time to come and unfortunately my husband did not feel well when they finally came, so we took them to go. The staff was very helpful in packing up our dinner. All in all, it was good food but not what we were hoping for. Not sure I would recommend Harlem's.
The food I experienced at Harlem was below par. I was actually quite surprised that the reviews are good because I was very underwhelmed. It appeared like it was a disservice to go knowing that they would be closing their doors soon The only saving grace was the server, Andrea, I think? She made everything okay so I really hope she lands on her feet. Good servers are hard to come by.
First time eating at this restaurant. Went during winterlicious. The menu had good variety. The food was good. Service was fair, however the two waitstaff working were certainly doing their best to keep up with the turnover. Would recommend for a brunch.
