Nakamori Japanese Restaurant - Toronto

Truly one of the hidden gems of Scarborough. All the dishes were excellent and I felt satisfied but not too bloated or full. The j chicken karage should be the dish of Toronto as it’s a perfect blend of two prominent cultures and cuisines that every Torontonian would appreciate.

This is one of the few great Japanese restaurants in Scarborough. I saw it online and had to give it a try. The waiter was very friendly and provided great recommendations for the food. We ordered the sake flight, the temaki 3 way (hand rolls), the eel based signature roll, the beef curry and gyoza ravioli. Finally we chose the creme Brulee for dessert. This was by far my favorite hand rolls and creme Brulee that I have had compared to other restaurants. You just have to give it a try!! The sake selection was unique to Toronto brewer Izumi sake and very tasty so I wanted to give that a shout out as well.

My fiancée took us here for omakase on my birthday. Everything we tasted was so fresh, bright and distinct, and the service was fantastic. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this. 10/10

Fun and creative fusion of cuisines: miso caesar salad, pesto wasabi with shrimp tempura, fish tempura and chips. The fish and sushi is great, and the service is friendly.

Nakamori fell on my radar for one primary reason: what 's a genuine Japanese chef doing running a shop in south Scarborough? Most would open a high-end restaurant in central Toronto. Stepping inside here off Eglinton you 're transported immediately into another world, forgetting that Nakamori is housed within a sea of strip plazas typical of Toronto 's inner suburbs. (After all, you can explore and eat the whole wide world through Scarborough strip malls--every enlightened Toronto foodie knows this... I think. There are much of the expected sushi fare offered, but much of the menu is more Japanese fusion. Sushi pizza? Seafood Ceviche Tacos? Cajun Tuna Tataki? On our dinner visit they only had QR code menus (why **** thanks, COVID era contactless paranoia , which took us to their online ordering site, which had us a bit confused at first but we ended up using the platform to build our order and then recite them to our server. My sister went for a sushi bento box, meanwhile I enjoyed a warm beef curry dish, and their j chicken karaage was a fun crispy touch to this dining experience that seem quite Toronto-esque in a culinary sense within a Japanese context. Pleasant and elegantly simple with great service to roll.
