Are you in the mood for a German-style schnitzel in the middle of the city? Look no further than Schnitzel Queen.
I arrived at 2pm to avoid the lunch rush and was successful, as there were only a few other customers at that time.
It's a bit of a hole in the wall with not much seating (there's a park and benches nearby if you want to eat outside) but the food is phenomenal and comes in enormous portions for the amount that you pay. I paid $10.50 for a junior chicken Schnitzel Cordon Bleu sandwich, and it wowed me. I got 2 meals out of the junior portion and actually shared part of the second meal that I had with it because I wanted someone else to understand how good the schnitzel sandwich was. Furthermore, the service was fast and straight to the point; for some, it might come off as cold, but they're honestly so busy sometimes that I don't blame them. In my particular case, there were over half a dozen schnitzel sandwiches ordered to go during the lunchtime rush, plus some eat-in orders being made, and I got my order in about 15 minutes, which was pretty quick. They also handled a couple of particularly bitter and rude customers reasonably and patiently. I was even offered a free canned beverage for having waited a little longer than usual (and for being patient - you can literally see them preparing your food and working hard to make sure you get it quickly, so you have a pretty good idea of when your order will be completed). All I can say to the staff that was there on July 28/2017 is: thank you. You did an excellent job and did not deserve to be treated the way you were treated that day by those rude customers. The food was one of the best parts of my day and you made a tourist feel very welcome in the city of Toronto.
The Schnitzel sandwich is huge! The junior is more than enough for one. The price is great for the size as well. I had the pork one and it was really fresh!
