My go-to dish is the sujuk pide, which is a Turkish version of pizza with Turkish sausage slices and a hint of spice, topped with cheese. The pide bread is freshly made, light, and tasty. The restaurant is small and simply decorated, with limited seating, but the service is quick and the overall experience is easy and enjoyable.
This restaurant may be pricier than other options near UofT, like Subway and food trucks, but the food is delicious, the atmosphere is tranquil, and they always have nice jazz music playing.
I dined at a small restaurant on College Street twice during my recent trip to Toronto. The SAJ is one of a few unassuming eateries in the area. The atmosphere is simple with just tables and plastic chairs, but the food was outstanding. On both visits, I ordered a falafel wrap - first the $6 option, and then the $10 one the next day because I enjoyed it so much. The chef prepares the wrap in front of you, flattening the dough and cooking it while you wait. You can choose from a variety of vegetables and sauces, such as tzatziki and tahini. The wrap is then placed in a convenient paper envelope for easy eating. I was impressed by the freshness and warmth of my wrap. The chef was efficient and skilled, especially as he multitasked to prepare multiple orders. The menu also offers different types of wraps, including options with chicken or steak, as well as pizzas. I highly recommend this place for a light, fresh, and nutritious lunch. The prices are very reasonable, and I even left a $2 tip for the chef.
I often visited the SAJ for lunch or dinner when I attended University of TorontoThe food was tasty, especially the SAJ bread/wrap.
