I learned at Union Social that there is such a thing as an American pint of beer sorry, aren 't we in Canada? . Forty years drinking draft beer in pubs and bars, I learned at Union Social that an American pint 16 ounces , which they serve as a pint, is much smaller than the normal Imperial pint 20 ounces that you find everywhere in BNA except Union Social. So if you want to pay the cost for a tiny glass of beer $9 that you would pay for an Imperial pint that is served everywhere except Union Social, this is your place.PS. We had planned to have dinner, but when our miserly drinks were placed in front of us, we chose to go elsewhere,
I ordered the steak bowl. The flavors were great but my medium rare steak was very tough, could barely chew it. Also for that amount of money the portion could be better. Part of it is just red cabbage which was delicious but for such a cheap ingredient could you spare your customers a little bit more..... it's just cabbage.
Good place to connect for lunch or drinks with friends. Open concept, good seating options with high and low tables bar and TVs. Variety of drink options cran gin and tonic was yummy. Had mushroom burger which was juicy and good. Overall it is a good place and been going once in a while.
Food was just so so. Service was excellent. Way too loud to easily carry on a conversation and mostly impossible for a guest with hearing aids. Washrooms are down a long flight of stairs so not good for special needs patrons. Not suitable for us in our late 70's. Live and learn.
The Union Social is a failsafe bet when it comes to looking for somewhere that has a menu catering to various tastes (great selection of menu items), solid service (very accommodating) and all round good eats (the food is consistently good). You can't go wrong in this choice of eatery
