This sushi establishment was just ok, nothing fancy or outstanding. We ordered 4 rolls off of the happy hour menu, Las Vegas, Philadelphia and a tempura. The tempura roll was not rolled right and fell apart every time you picked it up! The other rolls were fine and tasted alright. Our server Nicole was really great and has worked there for several years! Overall our experience was pretty standard, nothing bad but nothing to brag about either!
Came here for dinner because of the Sakana we tried in Scottsdale. This location seems considerably smaller than the other location, and the outside looks rather outdated. But I don 't necessarily judge a place by its size or outward appearance, so let 's move on. We came in during Happy Hour, so the price of food was fair. We ordered the Yellowtail Carpaccio, Salmon Dynamite, Scallop Dynamite, AZ Heat Roll and Shrimp Tempura Roll. Besides the unbelievable amount of fillers (rice and imitation crab in all the rolls, the main ingredients (i.e. Salmon, Scallop, Eel, etc. wasn 't bad at all. The best dish was the Yellowtail Carpaccio, which was pretty good. Service started off a little rough: stood around a while waiting to get a booster seat for our baby, had to ask for a menu after two other tables were seated and provided menus immediately, and didn 't seem to get the same vibe as their Scottsdale location. After placing our order, our waitress basically went missing except on one or two occasions, but I suppose that could be a good thing if you don 't like your servers checking on you--but another guy ended up doing most of the work, including getting our check, so the tip left was still fair since I 'd imagine tip is shared. Overall, the ratings really a strong 3.5, but since it was happy hour and the prices created a better value, 4 stars seemed fair.
The sushi at this restaurant is fantastic. The blue fin and ahi ahi rolls were perfect, and even the California roll was excellent. Everything was very fresh, including the potstickers. The ramen bowls were okay, although this place is not known for its ramen.
Not sure where all these positive reviews are coming from. This place was terrible. Husband ordered the chicken teriyaki meal, but they never brought out the sides, then tried to charge us the extra $3 for it. I ordered a house salad, side of miso soup, the Las Vegas roll, it was all terrible. My salad was drowning in the ginger dressing, had a lemon slice a slice of an unripe tomato. Gross. The Las Vegas roll was a cold deep fried roll. It was like both our meals were sitting back there for awhile because neither were very warm. Service sucked. Took FOREVER to get any sort of service. It was a slow night too. People who came in after us were served their food before us. Had to ask several times for refills, sides for my husband meal (which we never got), utensils so we could split our meal with our toddler, since there was no kids menu. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to handle a starving toddler with slow AF service.
