Annam Restaurant - Trivandrum

It’s an amazing vegetarian restaurant with a really nice host and really good food. I think it’s the best in the area.

The best thing about The ANNAM RESTAURANT and the SEA SAND rooms above, in addition to its beach front location exceptional value for money, are without doubt the fabulous hosts Wilfred Christopher along with their team. You are instantly made to feel like an old friend and nothing is too much trouble. They provide an excellent service from dawn until late into the night with a lot of great humour and loads of laughs. The food they serve at the Annam Vegetarian Restaurant below the rooms is exceptional, with an extended menu choice offering delicious fish meat and snack options for Sea Sand guests all at amazing value for money using the freshest and best quality ingredients(the chef was even happy to share his recipes with me. The breakfast which was included was fantastic (you could have it at any time and it extended to just about anything on the menu, or even things that weren’t. On a couple of occasions I had a banana honey dosa which was yummy, all served with great coffee, mugs of which were delivered to my room by Wilfred first thing in the morning. The room I had was massive with a huge bed with the best mattress I’ve slept on ever, let alone in India. There was a very efficient fan, loads of storage space and a nice outside seating area. The location is at the heart of Lighthouse Beach so you are at the center of everything and about 20 steps from the beach itself. I loved it here, can’t wait for my next visit and would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. These rooms have only just opened this season so don’t be put off by the lack of reviews. It’s a fabulous place.

It was one of the days when my wife and I put a self-imposed curfew on alcohol and non-vegetarian food. This 5th Nov Tuesday, we were desperately looking for authentic Kerala vegetarian food for dinner while walking along Kovalam beach, Trivendrum amidst much inviting seafood counters spread aplenty along Kovalam beach side pathway. In a small nook found this Annam Vegetarian Restaurant serving local cuisine. Christopher the owner of this quaint little place is all smiles while encouraging guests to speak out the dish of their choice and lo he goes on to get it made and served hot with his typical smile. We ordered Thatte dosa with coconut chutney and sambhar. It was steaming hot, tasty and perrrfect. This followed by Kerala parota and vegetable stew, typical Kerala stew made in coconut milk and whole spices. This too was served hot and was delicious to the core. Portion size are big. My wife Vakita and I ended up over-eating. A kilometer long walk back to car parking was all we needed to settle down our full stomachs. Keep tucking Christopher and keep smiling... You got a really infectious smile. Thanks for feeding us authentic Kerala vegetarian food.

I visited Kovalam twice and on both occasions, I dined at Annam. The food was truly outstanding, with authentic Indian flavors that also cater to European tastes by offering less spicy options. With so many restaurants to choose from in Kovalam, I am confident that Annam is the best choice!

Lovely vegetarian food. Nice vibe with music. Excellent and friendly service by Christopher and Wilfred. Christopher is so helpful to help with other things like accommodation and taxis etc. Food is all freshly cooked and can be spicy or not according to taste.
