*local hidden gem alert, super hygienic* You will hardly find many tourists here. I only saw locals going in and out with me being the odd one out Famous for : puris made in Desi ghee absolutely true) Aalo ki sabji and methi ki sabji. The only place where I have seen methi being sweet. Very friendly staff and the guy at the reception is very humble.. I ate 7puris, two servings of raita. Was full for atleast 4hrs after that!!!!
The sabji in Puri Sabji seemed watery but the taste was too good. We also tried other sweets and among them was the Makhkhan Vada which was time freezing and I couldn’t stop myself from eating it, the Makhkhan Vada and Gulabjamun are must try and also the Puri sabji. They start serving the Puri sabji at 9AM. Even if you don’t find this place crowded, the taste will still be good.
This is again another old shop. Quite famous for is Makhan Bada and Poori with Aloo curry. Gets quite busy but you get served hot pooris fried in desi ghee for exclusivity 5 Pooris were served with two curries and raita. It is more of an experience. The curry was hot and spicy and tasty too though in spite of being watery. Found typical of Ujjain in most places. Makhan Bada was really awesome. It just melted and was simply an awesome moment. Missed the Mango kalakand as it was over but the regular kalakand was equally good and tasty. Did not try thier Moong dal halwa given it was summer and hot weather throughout the day.
Amazing place, simple traditional food, very tasty, cooked in ghee, local flavours and cost friendly
