Eating wasn't so good. as expected and expensive. not very creatiw, except the desserts. small portions.
It was a tradition that we eat brains every autumn in this restaurant. in this year our third daughter was born and we obviously brought her to the family. So I was very surprised that they were not child seats. but before I knew that, I asked kindly and the women answered very hard with no. So I have “joyed” my dinner while I constantly watched my seven months old daughters who don’t fall off the bank!
At first this is a very historical, beautiful place located in the beautiful landscape of klettgau in the canton schaffhausen. absolutely stunning old building and a beautiful garden under old trees to dinate. that was my first time, and I was there. the service was friendly but not super-super friendly. the wine produced by the place itself was very good (although I would prefer to choose from more different wine producers of this famous wine region.) the menu card is rather one-sided: not a single vegetarian dish! not even with a word. So you could have meat, meat and meat. my poor friend had to order a latezli cellar with veggies, but this teller looked pretty fancy. I had chosen a blacksteak with the world-famous latezli (pumps). on the side there was no veggy, not even a piece tomaten or the notorious petersilie or chive. that was quite disappointing, but to the luck the latezli were actually as good as everyone said. to my absolute surprise I could not pay with maestro or credit card! that really amazed me that a restaurant of this format does not accept cards!? I just had the carry in my bag. the worst came when I was home: I have to sit on a nest of ants! my naked legs were covered with red spots that have developed into ugly evil and horrific itching wheals in the next 48 hours! I counted over 70 bites on my left side alone! I had to see the apotheke on Monday and buy antihistamin to get rid of the swelling and itchiness! my friend and I had a wonderful evening, but we both agreed that this would not be the place to meet again, I'm sorry.
A first guess experience. the first good impression was the friendly phone service during the reservation. it followed a truly friendly reception in a beautiful and very atmospheric restaurant. the service during our lunch was error-free and felt very real. eating was excellent, everyone loved. it large homemade brot, excellent mushroom starter, simply made with olive oil. a real tasty bite. the kalbsfilet came with the best ever tasteful cream sauce and made to house spaetzle. we still talk about it. it was super! unnecessary to say that the excellent badwy was a manifestation and we just had to buy a few bottles when leaving. There's only one thing in all this. the restaurant does not accept credit cards or even credit cards. we were not aware of this, because there is no mention on the web page (or we did not see it) but the personal offers them immediately a payment note for a later payment. a somewhat strange practice and dampened the mood of the person who invited us something. yet we will be back for eating, wine and excellent service. but adjust their payment methods to current times.
Please book it in advance. It is so popular, especially in the fall for eating wild (deer) from the hunting season. The salads are fantastic, they make their own bred, spätzle, wine and many other specialties. One of the oldest restaurants in the country!!
