We loved the interactive aspect of eating with our hands and the food presentation on banana leaves was visually appealing. However, the food was a bit cold when we started, so I would recommend arriving 5-10 minutes earlier than your reservation time. Be sure to make reservations as the restaurant can get busy. The food was tasty overall, with plenty of vegetables and fruits. The halo halo dessert was particularly delicious and refreshing. The experience was worth the $50 per person, although I wouldn't do it frequently. I would definitely recommend trying it if you haven't before!
We decided to give this restaurant a second chance, and I must say they definitely earned it! The first time we ordered from them through a third-party delivery service, the food arrived cold and soggy, not at all in good shape. We were disappointed, especially since we know Filipinos are known for their great cooking. Lesson learned - it's best to dine in rather than use a delivery service. A few days later, we decided to give them another shot and dined in at the restaurant. We were one of the only customers there, so it was a slow day and perfect timing for us. We ordered our food promptly and it was served quickly by a friendly young lady. The food was delicious - crispy and fresh. After we finished our meal, we chatted with the server and the owner, sharing our previous delivery experience. As tourists, the young lady even gave us recommendations of places to visit while we were in BC. The atmosphere was pleasant and the people were friendly. We highly recommend this place!
Overall, the taste at this restaurant is above average. The presentation of the drinks and dishes is good, and the taco and curry are both enjoyable. The Taro Brownie and Taro ice cream dessert are also worth trying, though they may be too sweet for some. However, the prices are on the higher side, with a bill of $100 for two people for only two dishes, drinks, and desserts. The most disappointing aspect of the experience was the staff cleaning the tables next to us with bleach multiple times, despite us still eating. The strong smell was off-putting and made it difficult to enjoy our meal. I don't think I will be returning due to this issue.
The location is about 17 mins walk away from commercial broadway SkyTrain station. Can also catch the 20 bus down here. They have a combo where you order 2 days in advance and they prepare the food on a long banana leaf, we ate separate dishes this time and the food was very good. My wife said it was authentic so that’s good to know. Would recommend everybody to give this place a shot.A little small and sometimes a little waiting since they have regular reservations. But so very worth the wait.
My filipino friend took me to this amazing eatery to try new cuisine! Kare Kare with beef was amazing, I really enjoyed how all ingredients taste with shrimp paste. This one adds the meal a perfect salty taste! The second dish we ordered was a grilled squid, which was also well prepared. It was fun to eat like a filipino with fork and spoon, no knife! I’ll be back to try some other meals from your menu.
