Il Veneziano - Veracruz

We visited for the first time and decided to check the higher end dining options. We started with a delicious caprese salad served with a pesto dressing, and pulled on a porcini mushroom risotto that was perfectly prepared, My husband had a spinach... Ravioli main not as expected, but very good. I had the fried salmon with asparagus and spinach it was excellent. The wine list here is the most extensive we have seen from the many restaurants visited, certainly something for every taste and price point. You have accommodated us with an English menu. A very nice culinary experience!

With the temperature after 95°F, a local friend chose this air-conditioned Italian restaurant for our lunch. She liked the Risotto here especially and praised the version with mushrooms she ordered. My husband had a green salad and the fish of the day, poached sea...bass. I had carpaccio and sea bass with artichoke hearts and many carrots in a broth. Both dishes were tasty, although not especially Italian (also northern Italian). T he salads were so big that either of them, accompanied by the freshly baked Focaccia, would have served as a light lunch alone. The service was cozy, but polished, and the decor evoked Italy.

It is a traditional Italian restaurant, good ambience and delicious food if you feel that you have tried too much seafood and want for a break, this is an excellent choice.

Bread is freshly baked, pasta is hand made, and the house wines were well above average for Mexico. It's reasonably priced but be careful when you order off the English menu as the prices are not current. If they had not shown us one price...and charged another, they'd get 5 stars. It wasn't intentional, the waiter let us know before he put the order in and showed us the regular menu so we knew what we were going to be charged.

Beautiful pastas, pizza was ok (my child called it a bit "watery"... could have been cooked for 2 min longer), shells were nice, but definitely had a fishy taste to broth, excellent service and friendly waiting staff. Actually, a few vegetarian dishes on the...menu, that was a nice change from most other restaurants in Veracruz.
