However, there was one instance where a server failed to inform us that the chips were fried in a fryer that is not designated for gluten-free items, despite us mentioning that we have celiac disease. The corn chips are not made in-house, so it is important to ask about their preparation. On a subsequent visit, a different server was helpful in providing information on gluten-free options. Unfortunately, there is no dedicated fryer, so the pizzas are at risk of contamination. It is also important to inquire about the soy sauce, as its gluten-free status can vary. Initially, there was a separate gluten-free menu, but now items are simply marked as gluten-free. However, many of the items marked as gluten-free are fried and may not be safe for those with celiac disease or other food sensitivities. This limits the available options significantly. In general, there are some gluten-free choices available, but caution is advised, and it is recommended to ask plenty of questions before ordering.
UPDATED: As of summer 2022, the restaurant has significantly cut back on their gluten free offerings. Previously, most of the menu was gluten free, but now there are only a few options available. I ordered the Kung Pao bowl and it was delicious! They do have gluten free pizzas, but they are cooked in the same oven as the regular pizzas, so I would recommend avoiding them as well as other deep fried foods. It's best to inquire about cross contamination with the servers, who are helpful, and the kitchen staff, who are knowledgeable. I was grateful for the separate gluten free menu with many choices, although I cannot confirm if they are all safe for those with celiac disease.
There are many gluten-free options available at this restaurant in Victoria, with a separate menu dedicated to gluten-free items. While I would not recommend the flatbread or pizza due to potential cross-contamination issues, there are plenty of other gluten-free options that I feel confident in choosing.
EDITED from summer 2022 have drastically reduced their gluten-free menu. There are only one handful of things: Order You the Kung Pao bowl that was delicious!! They offer GF pizzas, but they are cooked in the same pizza oven as gluten, so stay away from pizza and other deep fried food. Ask best questions about cross-contamination, servers are helpful and kitchen is knowledgeable. Review the separate GF menu that had many options, not sure if they were all celiacs safe.
The food is great, and most of the servers were great, but we did not say that the chips in a non-dedicated frit after giving celiac (they are corn chips, I forgot to ask if they were made in the house! The next time the server was helpful to tell us what GF was. No special frit, pizzas could be contaminated, ask for the soy sauce, sometimes it is GF, sometimes it is not as we were told about another server there. There is a separate GF menu, but many of the elements on there are fritted and therefore insecure for celiac diners that narrow the elections quite a bit. All good, just be careful and ask many questions.
