Although the personnel do not converse as well in English as we were hoping, they were soooo helpful! The food, from the entrees right to the dessert was absolutely delicious! We tried the suggested fish meals and for someone who isn’t crazy about fish wow, I am now! We highly suggest this “local” spot even if you are in the neighbourhood touring!
We had lunch at this restaurant as we were somewhat lost in this Portugal city. It was a very enjoyable experience. Anna, who may be the owner, was a great host. She spoke no English and I spoke no Portuguese, but we managed to communicate. I started with a glass of white wine, but Anna brought a full bottle. I thought, oh well, and went with the flow. My wife joined me and we moved from the outside table to inside the restaurant. As we tried to figure out the Portuguese menu, Anna suggested the daily special which was a meal, dessert and drink. We agreed with Anna and we were surprised with the daily special. Soup, salad and an appetizer as a starter which was followed by a wonderful sea bass main course. When we finished there was a dessert table waiting for your selection. When we finished we asked for the bill and Anna told us it was just 15 Euros each for the dinner and the bottle of wine. For us this was a unbelievable price for such a meal, but your finances my be different. If you are in this area, then you should check out this restaurant. I hope the local population is also a supporter. It is what a local restaurant should be, honest and great food.
Came here on the off chance on a Thursday lunchtime we weren't disappointed. The restaurant was half full and a young guy welcomed us and showed us to a table. We were given a small plate of warm pastry nibbles and a salad, all of which were tasty. Our order of one plate of mackerel and a plate of sardines arrived after about 15 minutes, both served with boiled potatoes and cabbage, were both flavoursome and pleasing. All washed down with a small carafe of house white. My wife had a rich chocolate cake for dessert and I just had a coffee. The meal ticked all the lunchtime boxes.
We called in here for a drink at around 11. The service was good and after a short walk we decided to return for lunch. We were about to order 2 x pizza's and our waiter sadi they were quite big and recommended we order 1 then if we were still hungry order a second. Also he said this makes sure the food stays warm and the ambient temperature was falling and a bit of a cool breeze coming off the river. The waiter was right as the one very tasty pizza filed us up quite nicely.
