Had a great time revisiting Coach's, it is definitely a stop we plan to make each time we visit Waco. Both the service and food is amazing here. We got the Ribs and Brisket with mac cheese and onion rings. The ribs are so flavorful they don't need a dropof sauce on them. The brisket is also amazing but the sauce takes it to another level. My husband also enjoyed the Big Macsandwich with pulled pork and mac and cheese on it. We each got a house margarita, I added peach to mine and it was absolutelydelicious. On our previous visit we got the baked beans and chicken wings and they were also delish. Definitely recommend thisif you're stopping in Waco. Parking is also a breeze for those wondering, and it's a nice walk if you aren't too far.
Con: hostess was really struggling to keep the wait list organized forgot about some people waiting 40 min. She was very nice, but not equipped to do her job in an organized way. The food and kindness of the bar staff made up for this. Food was reallygreat. We had the hobo bowl- it?s HUGE and plenty for 3 -4 people to share as an appetizer. I had it as my meal. My husband gota 2 meat platter w/ lean brisket turkey. Meat was flavorful moist. Sides of okra and green beans were tasty. I like thatthe okra was extra crispy w/ a bit of cornmeal to the mix. We eat at some of the best bbq joints in the state (Truth, Gatlin?s,Pinkerton?s) and I thought this place competed well w/ the likes of the state?s greats. Prices are really affordable too.
My host/server Tyler D was very friendly, welcoming and attentive. He was great, But, I walked into Coach 's to place a To-Go order. I really just wanted to try another Texas BBQ place before i returned to my home in MD. I found Brisket on the menu...One meat, two sides. So, I ordered brisket, Caesar salad, and cole slaw. It was ready pretty quickly, so off I went. I found aparking spot in the shade and opened the packages. The salad was a bit overdressed, the cole slaw needed salt, and the brisketwas dry and somewhat tough. I had ordered sliced vs. shredded. There was ONE single slice of brisket. ONE. $15.10 for oneslice of dry, not very tender brisket with mediocre sides is terribly overpriced! I would NOT recommend Coach 's xXx Smoke BBQ.
Now, another family-owned company located in the local opposite here in waco. we stumbled last night about coach’s bbq smoke in the 10 o’clock, there are some good things coming from a snowstorm. this little bbq bar was just one of the many we discovered. I'm sure there are many more. the owners are a 5-star friend. the atmosphere speaks for itself. the drinks too. the appetizers, as well as the lunch and lets not forget the peach cobbler. the brisket that I cut with my fork, as well as the smoked truthahn a baked huh. Although I only a bit back, the appetizers are more than heaping so know when to say, or ask for a box on these wise they have space for the brisket.
