I would suggest locals only... not tourist allowed lol. This is for safety, I promise I'm not racist.
Rays is the neighborhood bar. Always nice to go in and run into friends.
Came here late while out with a friend who lives in the area. The lot is a nice size so parking was easy. When we entered, there was karaoke and everyone had really nice voices. It was a good vibe. We sat at the bar. My friend is a regular so he knew the bartender. She was super sweet. I was starving and seeing other people eat so I ordered some Chicken Katsu. My friend said it was the most tender chicken katsu that he had ever had on the island.I was very pleased and would definitely go back.
Rays is not a place you ever want to be. Take that as you will. If you like a sketchy bars with limited selection, watered down liquor and certifiably insane bartenders then rays just might be the place for you! If not though you should probably consider going elsewhere although if you don't plan on leaving wailuku to find a better vibe you may find yourself out of luck.
My husband and I had flight delays and due to the inconvenience, we arrived past 9pm to Maui. After picking up our rental and looking for the nearest opened dinner restaurant, Google recommended Rey’s Deli. My husband and I were not disappointed. The son of the owner attended us right away. We ordered a shrimp stir fry dinner and the chicken katsu. His mom was such a sweet lady and asked how hot we wanted the shrimp stir fry. We like extra spicy food and she made sure we were satisfied with the spicy level. The chicken was crispy and addictive as well. We will definitely return as these owners made us feel like home and were very generous and patient with us.
