We visited for our anniversary and the food was AMAZING! I was a little worried because the menu descriptions are scant and the prices are premium but I cleaned my plate happily. The flavors, including the pepper sauce they brought to the table, were familiar as Black people but also unique and refreshing. The meat was TENDER. I got the stewed beef with fufu and kachumbari. My wife got the stewed goat with jollof rice and cabbage. We also got a side of plantains. The
Not gonna lie, the food here is cool and definitely an acquired taste. But the atmosphere, music/vibes, cool a bartenders and that fabulous ' Flaming margarita ' is really what keeps me coming back for more!! Dave Jessica are dope bartenders and always welcome us with huge smiles and provide great service. If I 'm in DC, I 'm definitely at Swahili Village as part of my weekend turn up ????????
An utterly delightful experience with warm service and flavorful, unique food. The prices might seem a bit high, but you get what you pay for and the serving sizes are good sized. There?s also a lot of good variety and specialty foods, and you can tell that the ingredients are fresh. You probably can?t go wrong of what you order here. Though I didn?t ask about allergens, I?ve no doubt the servers would answer any questions you have.
This place was excellent and authentic. Every dish was delicious, the staff could not have been nicer, and the presentation was superb. Everything we ate, from the beef stew to the Ugali, was rich in flavor and felt as if I were eating at a restaurant in heart of Africa. Highly recommended for anyone looking for really good and genuine African cuisine.
