During this year’s ‘Chinese Lunar New Year Festival’ in DC’s Chinatown, my girlfriend and I ducked into a local Thai place (yes, I know- Thai at a Chinese Festival? for an unplanned quick lunch. We were greeted promptly by a delightful young Thai lady who led us to our upstairs dining table. We were served by the same woman and found her to be vivacious and fun! She was able to recommend house specialties to several others at our table who were not familiar with Thai cuisine. The dining room and bar area are both neat and clean with simple decor. You feel like you’re eating somewhere far more upscale! Our food was perfectly cooked and excellently flavored. The Crispy Tofu was generously portioned and had a texture that none in the MD suburbs have been able to replicate. Both my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Golden Bags’. She took some of mine and I almost had to kill her. The curry was delicious (to me but very spicy (to everyone else . Beverages served are numerous and delicious. We had Thai Iced Tea and a Singha Beer. The iced tea was fantastic. Probably the best either of us have had, but it’s been a while since we’ve had Thai. Parking around here is street-side, metered, and rarely available. Best bet is finding a parking garage and walking. Honestly. Overall I found this to be a worthwhile ‘stumble’. The only thing keeping this from being ‘Outstanding’ is the price versus portion size. But that’s not a really big deal. We’re not talking P.F. Chang prices here, but portion size can be a bit small for the average American. I would really like to come back here and see what else they have to offer!
During a road trip to Boston, I decided to try this Thai restaurant while visiting DC. I am thrilled that I found this cozy and delicious cuisine. After checking out their excellent reviews online, I placed an order over the phone. Despite it being a holiday in October, the restaurant was not busy and my food was ready in about 20 minutes. The wait was worth it as the food was hot and delicious. My partner and I enjoyed our meal in a nearby park. The portions were generous, with the green curry being a standout for me and my partner enjoying the chicken fried rice and chicken satay. The restaurant was clean, and the staff were professional and welcoming. I will definitely be returning whenever I am in town and highly recommend this spot for delicious Thai food.
