The Market Cross - West Lancashire

Went here before lockdown because the pub was under new management. New landlords are friendly and welcoming. Top food as always, can't wait to get back in and enjoy a good meal and drinks. Keep up the good work.

My partner and I decided to have lunch at this pub while we were in the area, and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere. The pub is spacious which made social distancing easy. We discovered that the pub has recently changed management, and it is much better than previous reviews suggest. I would definitely recommend it and will visit again when I am in the area.

Amazing food, amazing people would definitely be going again. All the staff and managers were so lovely made me feel welcome.

Popped in for a drink this afternoon, socially distancing markers all over the place but tbh it looked very scuffy(not all down to the layout) in hindsight we should have left then but ordered our drinks followed the one way system round and found ourselves a table.(there was a nappy changing mat on the radiator next to us but we didn't spot it at first) Now please bear in mind its 2pm in the afternoon not a mad saturdsy night out! we are a pair of middle aged women just sat at our table chatting about life and generally just catching up and the cook/chef wherever you want to call him is sat at the table opposite us and we must have really annoyed him because he decided he had to turn the horse racing on the tv up so load we couldn't hear ourselves talk over it It was so bad after a few minutes we asked him to turn it down which he refused because he couldnt hear tv over the us . At this point we decided to leave but not before complaining about the situation to the lady behind the bar who just stood there smirking at us then over to him as we was leaving. Absolutely disgraceful customer service in a pub that has really gone down hill which is a shame. We will not be setting foot in it again and advice everybody to avoid

The manageress made a scene in front of other customers, suggesting we were wrong and even made condescending remarks. We didn't receive an apology even though the discount was applied before payment. The entire encounter was degrading and made us want to leave. Despite trying to lighten the mood, the manageress continued to be sarcastic and disrespectful. She even commented on our seating arrangement and lingered unnecessarily at our table. The quality of the food was also disappointing, with the ham and chips not meeting our expectations. We have never been spoken to this way in a customer service setting before, and even other customers noticed the manageress's behavior. Overall, our visit was horrific and I am surprised that the manageress is still employed given the many negative reviews about her. This experience has definitely deterred me from returning, as no one deserves to be treated so poorly.
