Solid dive bar. Every neighbourhood has a bar like Amnesia:<br/ <br/ Cheap draft? Check.<br/ <br/ Random dodgy person rambling to self/customers about government conspiracies? Check.<br/ <br/ Friendly if mildly confused waitstaff? (Bartender offered me a house red when I asked for a white wine. Check.<br/ <br/ Tasty food? Check. <br/ <br/ It is what it is. If youre just looking for a pint and a simple burger and fries, it 's a good place to pop in before you go elsewhere.<br/ <br/ Sidebar: DO NOT get it confused with the great 'Insomnia ' located directly across the street.
I love It. After my first visit during the afternoon, I thought I would give the nights a try and was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere. The Natchos were really different, but superb. Another visit I tried the steak and was totaly blown away, so much so that Amnesia is my new steak house. The crowd is a very unique mix of races, cultural backgrounds and monetary status, but at Amnesia, in Johnny and Mary's eyes, they are house guests not customers.Hey, drop by sometime have a drink, Eat something and join the regulars at the house party. Hey you might even find me there eating a Greek Salad or chatting up one of the female customers.
This restaurant has a few regular customers who keep it going. It lacks the typical charm of a dive bar and could really benefit from a thorough cleanup. I would be hesitant to try the food from this place.
It appears that this restaurant has unfortunately closed down due to Covid-19. I used to make a stop here on my way home before catching the train at Bathurst Station. Rest in peace.
