The calamari was fantastic and tender. The cocktail sauce was excellent. Heard the chowder was great and it did not disappoint. Had the halibut sandwich with fries and it was very fresh. If you are in Whittier this joint is a must. Even the mayor stops to eat here.
Was an interesting little place. I am certain it is more pleasant during the summer season! Food was pretty decent, over priced but fairly good Really the only place open right now, so were just grateful there was somewhere to eat!
The food was delicious. We ended up buying a really cool t shirt too and Rico the owner was beyond nice. Definitely a must do while passing through Whittier.
Food is good. Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!! for these very tasty tiny shrimp and two small pieces of excellent halibut fish cooked to perfection . Excellent red sauce. Very cute atmosphere. Cute little patio overlooking the marina.
Great food and lively local atmosphere. My daughter and I were deciding where to eat when a couple leaving Varly’s told us the place was great and recommended the halibut. So we took their advice and tried the clam chowder as well. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered. The interior is cozy place lined with write-ups and photos of local shipwrecks and colorful Whittier personalities. The staff encourages patrons to interact, making it a most pleasant and entertaining experience.
