Meatballs reminiscent of an Hungarian peasant dish was over spiced, entree of calamari and squid just didn't work, Eton mess style dessert was more mess than anything else, and chocolate pudding served with custard was, to put it mildly, a rubbery sponge. Such a shame as the staff seem very helpful. Being one of two tables occupied meant that we couldn't fathom the twenty minutes wait between courses. Only one chef but he seemed calm enough!! Won't go again but interested to see how "non-voucher" diners fare!!
I taught when I bought the 3 course deal from Groupon and people gave a nice reviews in it that the food was fantastic but when I made a booking using 2 vouchers for my son 21st dinner family for a weekend, they would not allow it ! They said, you can only use 1 voucher per booking ??? So we changed it on a weekday so they are not so busy ..... fine but the food or 3 course on the menu, most are not available and had to order something else. The service is fine the food is Ok but to small serving for a man. It's fine for the women as they don't eat to much. We always try the Groupon vouchers, to see what the restaurant is like but as we brought a birthday cake for my son's 21st dinner with family....the lady, owner?...was charging us for each plate we use for the cake ???? But why? It's just a small plate to serve the cake. It's so weird for a restaurant to change you to use a plate ? Would any of us go back there again ??? NO! NO way.
Me and girlfriend bought a voucher for 3 course dinner without knowing this place - just because the location was convenient. It was such a pleasant evening! Delicious food, great service, small cosy place. Menu had a great assortment: meat, seafood, vegetarian options, gluten free. The only thing that was missing from the menu was vegan options, but I have a feeling that if we requested some vegan food the restaurant would make something for us, as they were super accommodating all the way. Highly recommended!!... Oh and lastly the almond jelly gluten free desert was beyond any expectations!
What a lovely little place - hidden away and probably not too well known - but excellent food with fresh ingredients and lovely subtle flavours - definitely be back again !
I have reviewed this restaurant before and probably will again as every time I go I enjoy the delicious fresh and very interesting food. No, I'm not related to the owners, just a local who goes occasionally and enjoys good food. Origin is a small family run Asian Fusion diner with a difference and is great value. I have taken friends there and they have all gone back on their own accord. When I first went you could just walk in. Now it is so popular you really must book. Try it you will enjoy.
